The River Park Hotel & Suites Downtown/Convention Center is popular with budget-minded tourists seeking a no-frills riverfront hotel centrally located in downtown Miami. Two life-size lions stand at the front entrance, which has a green awning over its circular driveway. The lobby is classically designed and features charming dangling crystal light designs, ornate gold furnishings, and marble floors. Hallways are traditionally decorated with red patterned carpeting and cherry-toned doors. There are several lounge areas with simple furniture and interesting furnishings, including a large wood carving of an eagle. The staircase is charming and has glass railings and a crystal chandelier and there are two plain elevators for accessing higher floors.

Located on the Miami River
The hotel has a great location directly on the Miami River in downtown, right next to the Port of Miami and within two minutes' walk of the James L. Knight International Center. Public transportation is convenient, and the Riverwalk Metromover Station is one minute away on foot. A Macy’s, a Starbucks, a Walgreens, and numerous shops and restaurants are within a 10-minute walk of the hotel, while the shops at Mary Brickell Village take around 12 minutes to reach on foot The Miami Convention Center is a 15-minute drive, as is South Beach. It’s a 10-minutes drive to Coconut Grove and 17 minutes to Coral Gables. The airport is a 15-minute drive away.

The River Park offers a variety of air-conditioned rooms and suites with cherry-finished wood furniture and blue carpeting, although many appear worn or outdated. All rooms have views of the river or downtown and come with TVs with DVD players, although some TVs are tube-style. Mini-fridges, video game consoles, and safes are available for a fee. Bathrooms are simple, with shower/tub combos and fancily folded towels. Suites have dining tables and some have kitchenettes with microwaves. Rooms lack Internet access, though free Wi-Fi is available in the lobby.

There's also an outdoor shower. Just beyond the pool is the river, where there’s a footpath and benches. The gym is small and has a few cardio machines, but it's under renovation as of early 2015. There was an on-site restaurant and bar, but it's closed indefinitely as of 2015. Valet parking is available for a fee and a shuttle takes cruise ship guests to the Port of Miami for an extra charge.
