Four Seasons Hotel Milano is a luxurious and upscale five-pearl property in the heart of fashionable Milan. The hotel, built inside a 15th-century convent, is updated with every modern amenity and situated on private garden grounds offering all the quiet of the countryside; nonetheless, the venue is still within short walking distance of chic shops and art galleries. Classically decorated rooms have marble bathrooms and pretty views, but in some cases the furniture and decor looks a little bland. The gorgeous spa and attractive indoor pool with historical brick ceilings are property highlights.
Scene
An upscale, Italian-inspired chain hotel
Four Seasons Milano makes excellent use of its private garden grounds with wooden benches surrounded by manicured hedges and topiaries. Indoors, the expansive lobby looks like an expensive art museum with gleaming marble and floor-to-ceiling columns. White porcelain vases filled with fresh blooms add a touch of color while plush sofas and a grand piano help make the space a comfortable place to people watch. La Veranda restaurant has some of the best garden views on the property and the lounge Il Foyer features art sketches from famous set designer Filippo Peroni.
Location
Private garden grounds in the heart of a famed Milanese shopping destination
Milan is a fast-paced and chic city with all the noise and traffic that goes with it, but Four Season Milano looks and feels like a quiet manse in the countryside thanks to its private garden grounds. The hotel attracts business travelers and tourists who want to be in the mix yet can pay for peace and quiet. The property's location right by the Golden Quadrilateral, the heart of Milan's fashion district and (as may be expected) known for its high-end shopping, is highly convenient. The nearby Via Montenapoleone, Via Borgospesso, Via Della Spiga, and Via Sant' Andrea are the four streets that make up the Golden Quadrilateral, and visitors will find numerous upscale shops along these stretches. There are also excellent restaurants in the vicinity.
Rooms
Classically decorated rooms and suites with marble bathrooms and garden views
Because of the hotel's location inside a renovated convent from the 15th century, each room has a distinct architectural look -- for example, vaulted ceilings in the Cloister Suite and the courtyard windows of the Executive Suite. The decor feels a bit corporate and bland in certain rooms, featuring neutral colors, slightly dated wooden furniture, and plain white walls, but the sprawling bathrooms are a real standout. Floor-to-ceiling marble, deep soaking bathtubs, and rain showerheads give them a spa-like atmosphere. The rooms are still quite luxurious overall, but some may expect a bit more style from a Four Seasons property.
Features
A restaurant, spa, salon, gym, and 24-hour business center
The indoor swimming pool at Four Seasons Milano is larger and more attractive (the historical brick ceilings are stunning) than the pool found at the nearby Bulgari Hotel, but the scene at Four Seasons is a little more staid. The lovely spa includes the Rossano Ferretti salon and a fitness center. La Veranda is an elegant spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner overlooking the property's garden. Corporate travelers will appreciate a 24-hour business center and a multilingual concierge staff.
