Comfort Inn Monterey Bay

Comfort Inn Monterey Bay makes a nice first impression thanks to a lovely array of well-maintained bushes, plants, trees, and hanging plants that surround the entrance. There’s even a charming patio area with wooden and iron chairs under a small pergola. Inside, the lobby is more functional than welcoming. There’s a small reception desk, free coffee, and an area to the side set with a couch, some chairs, and a public computer. Like the lobby, the breakfast room is a bit tight on space, and can feel a little cramped in the mornings. The hotel tries to alleviate the crowds with a connected outdoor patio with iron tables and chairs. Families and couples are the main clientele, drawn to the hotel for the chain brand name and budget-friendly prices. 

Comfort Inn Monterey Bay is best suited to those with a car, as it sits just off Highway 1, a three-minute drive from the Postgraduate Naval School. As far as the local area, the hotel is across the street from the Monterey County Fairgrounds. There’s a decent number of dining options (like a Denny's) on the same street as the hotel. Del Monte Beach is a 20-minute walk or a five-minute drive away. The closest golf course is a four-minute drive. Cannery Row and Monterey Bay Aquarium take about 14 minutes to reach by car. For those who like the convenience of a quick drive to the airport, the Monterey Regional Airport is only a three-minute drive away. 

Rooms at Comfort Inn Monterey Bay are pleasant and mostly contemporary. They’re decorated in warm colors with soft gray carpet, white beds with gray covers and peach bed runners, and cherry wooden furniture. Some guests have complained about carpet cleanliness issues, though in general, the rooms are clean. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, safes, and microwaves. The bathrooms are modern with brown granite sinks, shower/tub combos, toiletries, and hairdryers. Some guests have reported hearing noise from the airport at night. 

Comfort Inn Monterey Bay offers just the basic amenities, as there isn't a gym, pool, or restaurant on-site. They do offer some nice extras like a free breakfast buffet of waffles, scrambled and hardboiled eggs, sausages, cereals, pastries, yogurt, and fruit. Wi-Fi and parking are also free. For those who need it, there’s a public computer in the lobby. Guests who purchase their Monterey Aquarium tickets on-site can receive a free pass for the following day. Pets are allowed on-site for a fee.
