Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic
Luxury 19th-century property with stunning Geneva Lake views
With its charming 19th-century designs, yellow awnings, and wrought-iron balconies, the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic is a luxury property that blends into the Montreux setting, offering gorgeous views of Geneva Lake and the Alps. Built in 1870, the eight-floor hotel was designed by architect Eugene Jost and updated with contemporary touches in 2010. The lobby -- with an illuminated front desk -- is bright and decorated in plush chairs, leather sofas, and chandeliers. Tastefully designed hallways feature black-and-white patterned carpeting and historical photos on the walls. There’s an elevator and a marble staircase with iron railings and wooden framed windows that provide natural light. Majestic lake views can also be seen from Restaurant 45, which has skylights in the dining room and a terrace with a scenic backdrop. Bar 45's winter garden feels like a greenhouse with two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows, oversized white lamps, and a cigar humidor.
Located on the banks of Lake Geneva in the heart of Montreux
Located in Montreux, on the east side of Geneva Lake, the hotel is conveniently across the street from a railway station that offers overnight parking. On the other side of the hotel are shops and a small park with a lakeside pathway for walking or jogging. The Montreux CGN ferry stop, the Freddie Mercury Statue, and the Place du Marche farmers’ market are within walking distance. The Montreux Music & Convention Center and the Musee de Montreux are a 10-minute walk. Rochers-de-Nayvia, with a cogwheel that goes up the mountain, takes 60 minutes by train. Chillon Castle is a 10-minute bus ride. The Geneva International Airport is an hour by car.
Stylish, understated rooms feature minibars, flat-screen TVs, and some have balconies and lake views
Five types of simple and stylish rooms offer wood flooring, baroque draperies, upholstered headboards, cream textiles, and dark wood furniture, plus some have lovely furnished balconies. Comfort Rooms offer street views, while Deluxe Rooms overlook the lake. Suites feature balconies with lake views, sofa beds, bathrobes, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, wardrobes or closets, writing desks, and free Wi-Fi. Chic black-and-white bathrooms have high-end toiletries, hairdryers, scales, shower/tub combos and/or separate showers.
Restaurant and bar with gorgeous views, elegant meeting rooms, a business center, and fitness facilities
The hotel's stylish Restaurant 45 offers stunning views over the lake and mountains, and has a beautiful terrace for alfresco dining in the warmer months, and there's also a bar with a winter garden. Eight event spaces, including the restaurant’s terrace and winter garden, are available for conferences or special events, fitting up to 800 people. Meeting rooms vary from the opulently designed 19th-century Salon Four Seasons -- with its ornate ceiling details, chandelier and a stage -- to the Chablais room, a traditional meeting space with patterned carpeting and white walls. Additional meeting equipment, coffee and tea breaks, flower arrangements, and catering can be requested. The business corner offers a counter with two PC computers and a printer. A clean, contemporary fitness center provides modern cardio equipment, lockers, towels, a sauna, and steam room. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
