Bottom Line

Guests don’t seem to mind that the mid-range Hampton Inn Myrtle Beach - Broadway at the Beach is a 30-minute walk from the Myrtle Beach beachfront. Most are happy the hotel is in the Broadway at the Beach complex, packed with dining and entertainment options, which is great since the hotel lacks a restaurant and bar. It helps that the hotel offers a free hot breakfast buffet and indoor and outdoor pools. The 141 rooms were updated in 2016 and are equipped with microwaves and mini-fridges. For those who like chain brand names and a beachfront location, the Best Western Plus Grand Strand Inn & Suites offers both, but the rooms aren’t as updated.

Scene

Chain hotel with beach-chic decor and a clientele of couples and families

Though Myrtle Beach is known for its beaches, Hampton Inn Myrtle Beach - Broadway at the Beach has a lakefront location in the Broadway at the Beach entertainment complex. Though the property has a typical chain-like design from the outside, renovations to the rooms and common spaces since 2016 have made this chain brand stylish with a beachy chic design. This appears in the lobby, complete with wood floors and a dark rustic wooden front desk that pairs well with woven chairs, potted plants, and large hanging paper lamps. On the other hand, the breakfast area has the vibe of a modern cafe with black and white tiled floors and food and drink photography on the walls. Most guests are families and couples, but business travelers can often be seen relaxing in the gray-toned chairs and booths, or working at the large wooden table in the lobby.

Location

Situated within the the Broadway at the Beach complex, walkable to dining, shopping, and family attractions

Hampton Inn Myrtle Beach - Broadway at the Beach doesn’t have the often sought after beachfront location in Myrtle Beach. In fact, the beach is a 30-minute walk or five-minute drive away. However, the hotel does have a convenient location in that it’s part of the Broadway at the Beach complex, making it well within walking distance of restaurants, movie theaters, shopping, Ripley’s Aquarium, and the Pavilion Park. It takes less than 10 minutes by car to reach the Myrtle Waves Water Park, the Pine Lakes Country Club golf course, or the Ripken Experience baseball field. The Myrtle Beach International Airport is a 14-minute drive away.

Rooms

Modern rooms with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and microwaves

This hotel underwent a full renovation of the rooms in March 2016 which threw out much of the dated decor in favor of a contemporary and stylish design. The decor is cool toned with lots of gray in the carpets and curtains with hints of blue in the headboards which stands out against the white beds. The wood furniture and gray office chair are sharp, as is the modern beach photography framed on the walls. All rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and microwaves. Suites offer sleeper sofas, jetted tubs, wet bars, and balconies, some with lake views. The bathrooms are similarly contemporary in design with shower/tub combos, Neutrogena toiletries, and hairdryers.

Features

Indoor and outdoor pools, small fitness center, and free hot breakfast buffet

Hampton Inn Myrtle Beach - Broadway at the Beach offers a good selection of amenities, though like many properties under the chain brand, lacks a bar and restaurant. The top highlights are the indoor heated pool, seasonal outdoor pool, and hot tub. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi and parking, and a free breakfast buffet of waffles, oatmeal, pastries, and fruit, or a free on-the-run breakfast bags for those with little time. There’s a gym with cardio machines and free weights, but it’s a bit small. Guests can take advantage of a coin-operated laundry room, two meeting spaces, and a business center, too.
