This mid-range resort in North Myrtle Beach is partially owned and rented by private parties and partially by the Embassy Suites chain. Decor varies according to the tastes of the individual owners, though views from the units controlled by Embassy Suites are better, as those are on higher floors. It's one of the nicer mid-range options in Myrtle Beach, and draws many conference guests with its 70,000 square feet of meeting space. It's a massive, sprawling property with a free shuttle to get around and lots of features, including nine pools, a giant fitness center, several dining options, and an oceanfront location. Just note the villas can be a bit far from the beach, and guests will have to drive for any dining off property.
Scene
Good thing there's a free shuttle to navigate this huge resort
Guests can park the car (for a fee) and there's a good chance they won't have to be seen again until checkout. That's because this huge resort -- 385 rooms on 145 acres on a mile-long stretch of Myrtle Beach -- has pretty much all that's needed for a self-contained beach vacation. Accommodation options include condos and villas; the beach just steps away (for condo guests, at least); and features include a fitness center, restaurants, and nine pools. But it may be worth comparing prices with the Royale Palms Condominiums by Hilton a short distance away.
Location
Located on the north end of Myrtle Beach on the Grand Strand
It's on a busy road -- US-17 -- but since it's situated on 145 acres behind a security gate, Kingston Plantation Condos feels removed from the hubbub. A visitor may never even see the street, except perhaps to travel to the nearby attractions. It's a 10-minute drive to the shops and restaurants at Barefoot Landing, and a 15-minute drive to Broadway at the Beach; there are no restaurants within walking distance, outside of the few options on the property. The action at the boardwalk in Central Myrtle Beach is a 20-minute drive away.
Rooms
Condos with or villas with multiple bedrooms and, in many, full kitchens
Kingston Plantation Condos offers two main accommodation options: one- to three-bedroom ocean-view condos, or two- to four-bedroom villas. The units -- even those booked through Embassy Suites -- have varying decor reflecting the tastes of the individual owners, so guests can expect anything ranging from simple white linens to Native American prints to leather. By and large, homeowners take great care and thought into the decoration of the space. Many units (both condos and villas) have full kitchens and washer/dryers and all have private balconies. Note that villas, while more private, have lake or plantation views and can be a short walk or even a short drive to the beach, while the condos in the Brighton, Margate, North Hampton, and South Hampton Towers are all ocean-view.
Features
This massive complex has a water park, a massive fitness center, and a conference center
This massive property has nine pools, including the small Splash! Water Park with its slides, kiddy pools and lazy river (free for guests who book through Embassy Suites, and a fee for guests who book through individual owners). Guests staying in the North Hampton Tower also get access to an indoor pool. There's also a 50,000 square-foot fitness center and daily classes for workout buffs, plus two restaurants: one casual, and one oceanfront casual fine dining. The conference center has 70,000 square feet of meeting space, and the condos attract many conference guests. There are rental fees for umbrellas and chairs on the beach, so many guests opt to bring their own.
