Bottom Line

The Roxanne Towers consists of 72 condo-style rooms that are individually owned but rented out like a hotel. Rooms have oceanfront balconies and full-size kitchens, but leave much to be desired in the way of decor. Furnishings appear outdated and, although the building opened in 2004, both the interior and the exterior look like they’re stuck in the 1970s. The best part about the property is its location right on the beach and proximity to tourist attractions like the SkyWheel.

Scene

Condo-style budget property located in the heart of the entertainment district on the beach

The Roxanne Towers is a tall, pink condo-style budget hotel situated right on the Atlantic Ocean in Myrtle Beach. The check-in desk area is small and the lobby has a few tropical print chairs arranged in a sitting area next to a coffeemaker. The unimpressive decor and furnishings extends to rooms, though the spaces have great ocean views and balconies. Rates are reasonable compared to nearby properties, but for guests who want a little more luxury and attention to ambiance, they may want to choose a different venue.

Location

Centrally located near shops, restaurants, the boardwalk, and the SkyWheel

Located in the heart of the entertainment district on the beach, the Roxanne Towers is within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions. The hotel is only a six-minute stroll from the popular SkyWheel, a giant Ferris wheel ride, and is two blocks away from Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. More than a mile long, the boardwalk runs from 14th Avenue to the 2nd Avenue Pier, hosting several festivals and events during the busy summer tourist season.

Rooms

Rooms have ocean views, but lack updated furnishings and decor

The hotel offers one-bedroom and two-bedroom condo-style rooms along with studios. Rooms have balconies that face the ocean with plastic chairs; the higher the floor, the better the view. The interior decor, however, leaves much to be desired, consisting of dark green carpets, yellow walls, tropical print curtains, and dated furniture. Some rooms have kitchens outfitted with basic white appliances (refrigerator, four-burner stove and oven, microwave, and dishwasher). The countertops, cabinets, and tiled floors in kitchens and bathrooms look clean, but unimpressive -- what one would expect for a budget property. There are flat-screen TVs in every room, as well as stacked washer/dryer combos.

Features

Pools and hot tub, but no on-site restaurant or gym

The Roxanne Towers has several swimming areas on the property, including an indoor and outdoor pool and a skinny, concrete lazy river -- about the width of one inner tube -- that spans the length of the oceanfront deck. The indoor pool is tiny, jutting up against a few parking spaces, and has no seating area for guests. But there are lounge chairs surrounding the outdoor pool and lazy river, as well as the small hot tub. There are no restaurants or bars on-site; no gym either. Freebies include Wi-Fi and self-parking (one space for one-bedroom units and two spaces for two-bedroom units). Free coffee is available each morning as well, but no breakfast.
