The mid-range Hampton Inn & Suites Orange
Beach is a modern, beachfront hotel that offers an
unbeatable location in Orange Beach, with restaurants and shops nearby and the Wharf in Orange Beach within a 10-minute
drive. Its 160 rooms are spacious and clean, with microwaves, mini-fridges,
coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi, though noise can be an issue due to thin walls. The heated indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub overlook the beach, and there’s a tiki bar serving drinks in warmer months. A free
hot breakfast with eggs is served daily, but there's no on-site restaurant. It’s a solid value for beach-loving
families and couples, but rates typically spike on weekends, so it’s wise to
shop around. The Holiday Inn Express Orange Beach is also on the beach
and offers cheaper rates over most dates.
Modern chain hotel that showcases its beachfront
This handsome, nine-story hotel situated directly on the
beach is a bright and modern property that opened in 2011. The hotel naturally
(and smartly) showcases its beachfront location as much as possible, with banks
of floor-to-ceiling windows that allow guests dining and relaxing in the
lobby’s breakfast area to enjoy Gulf views. An outdoor patio enables guests
to eat outside listening to the crashing ocean waves. The lobby is bright and airy, with beige wood floors that match wood paneling on columns
and ceilings. The same color appears on upholstered furniture, some of which have bright orange accents. The vibrant tangerine hue is also used on some walls, as
well as rugs and ottomans. Even the hotel’s
exterior is a beige/orange creamsicle combination. A paved pathway leads to the beach
behind this contemporary, family-friendly hotel.
Directly on the beach, 10 minutes from The Wharf at Orange
The Hampton is situated directly on the white sand beaches
of the Gulf of Mexico along Orange Beach’s main thoroughfare, Perdido Beach
Boulevard. Several restaurants are only a few minutes’ walk away, as are a pharmacy
and grocery store. Several other hotels, resorts, and vacation condo complexes are
nearby as well. Adventure Island amusement park is a two-minute drive away, while Gulf
State Park can be reached in seven minutes by car. The amphitheater and many shops,
restaurants, and cinemas at The Wharf in Orange Beach are a 10-minute drive, while the stores at Tanger Outlet are about 20 minutes away by car. Pensacola International
Airport and the Mobile Regional Airport are approximately 50- and 90-minute drives, respectively.
Modern, clean, and spacious rooms with mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers
Guest rooms use tropical pastel
colors to push a beachy vibe. Bright turquoise blue dots the decor throughout, appearing on drapes, chairs, ottomans, and providing a contrast to neutral beiges and browns. Suites also have light green sleeper sofas in living room areas. But white tile floors, granite countertops, stucco walls, and brown wall-to-wall carpeting betray a bland, chain-hotel blueprint. Reddish brown wood furniture includes
headboards, nightstands, and desks, while beds are topped with crisp, white linens. Spacious wood vanities are placed outside the bathrooms, which feature beige tile floors and walls framing the shower/tub combos. Bright green-and-blue striped wallpaper elevates the bathroom's overall look from basic.
Standard room options include King and
Double Queen with inland, beachfront, and side (partial) beach views. Studio Suites have private balconies, as do some standard rooms. All rooms have 32-inch flat-screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, laptop desks, and free Wi-Fi, plus suites have wet bars. Guests should note that there have been some complaints of noise issues due to thin walls.
Heated pool with tiki
bar, fitness center, ample event space, plus free breakfast and parking
This Hampton Inn offers a fair amount of features, but it does lack a full restaurant. However, rates include a daily free
hot breakfast with eggs and meat. Diners can sit on an outdoor patio
overlooking the beach in warm weather, while guests in a hurry can get a free
breakfast-to-go bag. Free coffee and tea are offered all day, and the
lobby's market offers sundries, snacks, and frozen dinner entrees. Vending machines are located in various areas of the property as well.
The hotel has a heated indoor/outdoor pool as well as an indoor hot tub. The poolside tiki bar serves tropical libations, but it is closed in the winter months. A spacious, 24-hour fitness center offers several cardio
and weight-training machines and overlooks the beach. Event space for up to 320
people is available, and the 24-hour business center has two computer stations
with Internet access and a printer. Free USA Today newspapers are offered
weekdays in the lobby. Guest laundry facilities are on-site, and valet dry
cleaning/laundry services are available. Free covered parking is available in a
multi-story garage that allows guests staying on the second and third floors to
go directly to their rooms without going through the lobby. The front desk has
a guest safe deposit box, and an ATM is on-site. The entire property is
nonsmoking, and pets are not allowed.
