Best Value Hotels in the Oregon Coast

High on value and low on frills, the mid-range Lanai at the Cove is a good choice for vacationers looking to get away from it all. The oceanfront location two miles from the center of bustling Seaside requires a car but gives immediate access to a rocky beach popular with surfers. Rooms are individually owned and decorated, and some are pet-friendly, so inquiring about the specific room prior to booking is essential. Each room has a kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave, those that face the ocean include private balconies. An outdoor heated pool is a nice perk for this price range. 

The two-pearl Sandcastle Beachfront Motel offers direct beach access and 40 of the most inexpensive oceanfront rooms in Lincoln City. Rooms are dated and lack air-conditioning, but they’re clean and comfy and have flat-screen TVs. Some also have kitchens, fireplaces, oceanfront balconies, and whirlpool tubs. There's also a large indoor pool and a hot tub with ocean views.

The family-owned Inn at the Prom is a value property offering 15 suites with kitchenettes or kitchens, fireplaces, and jetted bathtubs or hot tubs; some also have beachfront balconies. There's no on-site restaurant, but there are plenty of places to dine and shop within a couple of blocks of the hotel. Amenities include loaner beach toys and chairs, a barbecue grill, and free parking, and there's a laundry room at the Blue Gull Inn, a nearby sister hotel. 

With a picturesque and convenient location, the Inn at Seaside attracts a mix of both families and convention goers. It's centrally located -- just off Highway 101, next to a convention center, and two blocks from the main drag of beach, with fun activities like bumper boats, factory outlets, and an aquarium in the immediate area. Rooms range in size and sleep up to eight at the largest; some have kitchens or kitchenettes. With free breakfast, cookies, Wi-Fi, and an indoor swimming pool, the three-pearl hotel is a good value for families on a budget -- but it does look a bit dated.  

The 50-room Garibaldi House Inn & Suites operates like a very large bed-and-breakfast, adding homey touches that give the property a personal touch. Located about five minutes from picturesque Rockaway Beach -- the area's major draw for the beautiful coastal landscape -- and 55 miles from the busier Astoria, the hotel is a good choice as a home base for exploring this region of the Oregon Coast. Free Wi-Fi, an indoor pool, and an extensive breakfast are some of the perks that makes this three-pearl property a great value, but rooms are dated and could use updates.

The intimate Starfish Manor Oceanfront Hotel is a romantic boutique property with 17 Suites with whirlpool tubs, fireplaces, and kitchenettes or kitchens, but no air-conditioning. Additional romantic touches woo couples: bathrobes and -- on request -- rose petals on beds, chocolate strawberries, and champagne. A laundry room is available and there are household appliances and DVD rentals at the front desk. However, while coffee and tea are offered in the lobby, there's no restaurant or breakfast on-site.

With a location on the Necanicum River, a two-minute walk from downtown Seaside and one block from the convention center, Rivertide Suites is a good choice for both business and leisure travelers. The 70-room, all-suite property has the comforts of home -- like a seating area, kitchen, electric fireplace, and balcony in each room -- but the look is that of a corporate apartment. Features include a small fitness center and an indoor pool and hot tub. Continental breakfast and an evening manager's reception are both free. 

Travelers looking for a midrange getaway sans kids will appreciate the no-children policy at the four-room Weiss' Paradise Suites. Tucked away from the bustle of Seaside in a residential part of town, but only three blocks from the beach and about a half-mile from the main drag on Broadway, the property has a convenient location and zero features. Though the suites have a homey vibe, up to three bedrooms, and full kitchens, the hotel has a few elements that make it look like a throwback to another era, like wood paneling on the walls, tropical fish pattern bedspreads, and a vast collection of tapes to be played on the in-room VCRs.
