Best Western View of Lake Powell Hotel

The spectacular Southwestern desert scenery that surrounds this hotel attracts tourists from all over the world, including several tour bus groups. Its low-ceilinged lobby is modern and pleasant. Sand-colored, polished-tile floors and walls painted in similar hues create a soothing ambience, enhanced by an indoor, stainless-steel-and-stone water feature. Gold and lime chairs sit atop a rug with a kaleidoscope of bright colors, and contemporary artwork in equally loud colors adds pep and energy. The covered patio has lots of comfortable, sectional-style armchairs, offering sweeping views of the beautiful cliffs surrounding Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam in the distance. A gas fire pit allows guests to linger past sunset on chilly nights. The hotel gets busy during peak season, but there's plenty of open space around it that offers some respite.

The Best Western sits on a bluff in downtown Page, where it offers excellent views of Glen Canyon Dam. Three steakhouses are less than three minutes away on foot, and several other restaurants are just a few minutes farther. Page City Hall is a four-minute walk, and a Safeway grocery and pharmacy is a 10-minute walk or a three-minute drive. A Walmart Supercenter on Highway 89 is 10 minutes away by car, and the Page Municipal Airport is a five-minute drive from the hotel. The Glen Canyon Dam on Lake Powell is a six-minute drive, and scenic Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River is an 11-minute drive. The Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park is a 13-minute drive, and Antelope Canyon is 17 minutes away by car. It takes approximately two hours to reach the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, and two hours and 20 minutes to drive to the North Rim. Zion National Park is one hour and 45 minutes away, and Bryce National Park takes two hours and 30 minutes. Flagstaff takes a little more than two hours to reach by car. 

A subtle Southwestern ambience is on display in the Best Western View's guest rooms, thanks to rustic, plank-style laminate floors; colorful photos of slot canyons; and walls in soft gold and rust hues. Bright white bedding and matching espresso-colored wood furniture provide a nice counterpoint to the desert colors. Matching armchairs and ottomans in butterscotch leather add distinction. The spacious rooms include single king beds or two queen beds, but a few Triple Queen Family Rooms are available too. Some Deluxe Rooms have balconies large enough to include wrought-iron tables and four chairs. While one side of the hotel offers no views to speak of, the other side features sweeping views of Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell’s cliffs -- something to keep in mind when making reservations. Bathrooms are large and include roomy showers with clear-glass doors. Dark-wood vanities with tan granite tops have been placed outside the bathrooms. While rooms are quiet and generally well-maintained, several past guests have complained about unpleasant smells from the cleaners used by the hotel. Standard amenities include microwaves, mini-fridges, flat screen TVs, and Keurig coffeemakers. Free Wi-Fi also is provided, but many guests have reported it as being highly unreliable or inaccessible in some rooms. 

Many features of the Best Western View take advantage of the spectacular Southwestern landscape. Sweeping views of the majestic cliffs surrounding Lake Powell can be seen on the hotel's lovely covered patio. Some guests opt to bring their breakfasts -- a hot buffet of eggs and meat dishes that's included in room rates -- out here. Likewise, the pool area offers views of Lake Powell in the distance. The heated outdoor pool is open May through October, and the outdoor whirlpool is open all year. 

The hotel's fitness center is nothing special, but it covers all the bases with several pieces of equipment, including cardio and weight-training machines and free weights. The business center has two computer stations with internet access and printers, and free Wi-Fi is available, but it’s unreliable. Staff will help to arrange tours of Antelope Canyon and other area attractions, and free parking is available on-site. Guests are welcome to use a safe deposit box that’s located at the front desk.
