Bottom Line

For Palm Springs visitors who want resort-like amenities and a downtown location, it doesn't get any better than the upscale Kimpton Rowan. As one of the tallest buildings, at seven stories, in Palm Springs, it has ample space for bells and whistles you'll otherwise only find on the outskirts of town: a gorgeous rooftop pool, full fitness center, a fine-dining restaurant, all-day cafe, bikes to borrow, and two bars. The 153 guest rooms and suites are done in a contemporary finish and include floor-to-ceiling windows and chic bathrooms. The major downside is the resort fee, though it does include a daily wine and beer reception with a few nibbles. Expect to pay extra for breakfast. For something with a more boutique vibe and free breakfast, check out the Sparrows Lodge Hotel

Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel

Scene

Mid-Century Modern design, mountain views, and Kimpton flair

Kimpton hotels are known for artfully combining a curated boutique-like hotel experience with the service and efficiency of a chain hotel, the the Kimpton Rowan is no different. Thanks to its angular seven stories of glass and white lattice trim fronted by towering palm trees, the hotel truly stands out from it's low-lying neighbors. Inside, the lobby features soaring ceilings, Mid-Century Modern furnishings, and a full bar. A gas fireplace, bookshelves lined with opened books, and potted plants invite mingling and lingering. This is where the daily beer and wine reception is hosted, and where guests check in and out at the reception desk. Up on the rooftop, guests and day visitors can enjoy the chic swimming pool and epic mountain views. Most guests are couples and friends, with the occasional kiddo, and the overall atmosphere is quite refined and pleasant.
