Review Summary

Photos and Review by

  • Lovely pool with nice landscaping, lounge chairs, and umbrellas
  • Large, Gulf-facing balconies
  • 42-seat movie theater
  • Largest condo sleeps 8
  • Gym is dark but decently equipped and open 24 hours

  • Not exactly beachfront -- across small road
  • Not all units have dishwashers
  • Fee for Wi-Fi

Bottom Line

Sterling Shores is one of the nicer (and larger) condo resorts in the Destin area. The property has a bit more style than the competition, though the bar isn't especially high. The rooms are bright and airy, and there are two pools at the resort. While all units have a Gulf view, the beach is actually across a small road. With special events for kids and a small movie theater, Sterling Shores is a great choice for families.

Close to downtown Destin, right on the Gulf

Sterling Shores sits in Destin, a Florida Panhandle town just west of Panama City. Both cities are famous for their white-sand beaches and have become substantial vacation towns. Main attractions in Destin include fishing, swimming, and camping in Henderson Beach State Park and the shopping and nightlife of the Destin Harbor area. The area is also home to many amusement parks and golf courses.

Destin is part of the Florida Panhandle, also called Florida's Emerald Coast. This area is known for beautiful beaches that stretch for several hundred miles along the Gulf of Mexico. The panhandle is home to some of Florida's best beaches as well as excellent seafood restaurants and family-friendly attractions.
