The Grand
Hotel Leveque is a mid-range boutique hotel on a charming pedestrian shopping
street near the Eiffel Tower. The hotel is surrounded by cafes, wine stores, and fine food shops, and is a five-minute walk from two metro stations. Like many Parisian hotels in
this price range, interiors are simple and rooms are nicely decorated yet small. Rooms feature flat-screen televisions, comfortable beds, and bathrooms with modern fixtures. Wi-Fi is included with the
room rate but there is a daily fee for breakfast. Overall, this is fine choice
for value-minded travelers who want a genuine taste of daily Parisian life, and who don't mind the 15-minute
metro ride to the city center. It's also worth considering the similarly priced Hotel Duquesne Eiffel nearby, where some rooms have Eiffel Tower views.
Scene
Unpretentious Parisian hotel, refreshed with a few mid-century touches
The
Grand Hotel Leveque is housed in a traditional multistory Parisian building on a cobblestoned pedestrian street. Like everything in the hotel, the entrance and reception area are tiny but neat and clean. Expect vintage wooden stairs, whitewashed stone walls, and a reception desk with contemporary blonde and a red accent wall behind. The updated vibe continues in the hotel's breakfast area, freshened with a red accent wall, bright throw pillows, mid-century modern chairs, an electric fireplace, and a wall-mounted flat-screen TV. Unfortunately, the hotel lacks a a courtyard or patio where guests can enjoy breakfast on nice days.
Location
On the Left Bank in Paris' 7th Arrondissement -- a 12-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower
The Grand Hotel Leveque is situated
on Rue Cler, a cobbled pedestrian shopping street that is around the corner
from Rue de Grenelle, site of a bi-weekly outdoor market beloved by locals. The
hotel is surrounded by quaint cafes, cheese shops, wine stores, bakeries and chocolatiers.
The Left Bank location is walking distance from the Eiffel Tower, the Musee
Rodin and the Tuileries Gardens. Two metro stations
are within a 10-minute walk, and Parisian hot spots such as Luxembourg
Gardens, the Arc de Triomphe, the Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Musee d’Orsay,
are reachable via public transportation in 30 minutes or less.- Six-minute walk to La Tour-Maubourg metro station
Rooms
Comfortable and tidy, with subdued decor and modern (if small) bathrooms
Rooms are tidy but small, as is typical of many Parisian hotels in this category. Spare decor in subdued brown and beige or a more contemporary gray-and-red
color scheme is acceptable if not quite stylish. Features include comfortable
beds, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Nicely updated bathrooms have contemporary white tile, gleaming
chrome fixtures, and glass-enclosed showers with detachable showerheads. Some rooms have small balconies with views of the street or inner
courtyard. Courtyard-facing rooms tend to be quieter, while rooms facing the street can get noise from morning traffic and deliveries.
Features
Free Wi-Fi and breakfast for a fee
Like many small hotels in Paris, the Grand Leveque doesn't offer many extras. A filling but basic continental breakfast is served in the downstairs breakfast room, but it is not included in the rate. Guests may be better off grabbing a morning croissant and cafe creme at one of the many nearby cafes. Hotel service is generally agreed to be friendly and helpful, and the staff can assist with recommendations for dining and sightseeing.
