Bottom Line

Hotel Gustave is a mid-range hotel with chic decor that's just a 17-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. Without a restaurant or bar, it's a little disappointing on the features front. However, it does provide a hot breakfast buffet (for a fee) daily, plus an honor bar and charming outdoor patio. The 32 rooms are comfortable and a bit tight, but well-equipped with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and kettles. Some rooms even have Eiffel Tower views. Travelers might also want to consider Le Derby Alma which is even closer to the Eiffel Tower and has an on-site bar, minibars with free soft drinks, and evening room service.

Hotel Gustave

Scene

Stylish boutique property with early 20th century Paris decor

It's immediately clear upon entering the lobby that Hotel Gustave is quite stylish, thanks to a renovation that was completed in 2016. The property is influenced by the late 19th and early 20th century in Paris. For instance, the hotel is named after Gustave Eiffel who designed the famous Eiffel Tower in 1889. Travelers might be surprised to see Chinese-inspired decor in a small dining area, but this alludes to the Chinese pavilion that was built for the World Fair of 1889. The lobby is trendy with contemporary gray and cream chairs, colorful accents, hanging design elements, and a red toned canvas photograph of Paris behind the front desk. There's a fun atmosphere to the breakfast room thanks to blue printed wallpaper and colorful photos of Paris on the walls. With only 32 rooms, no bar, and few public spaces, it's a fairly quiet hotel with a clientele of older couples, some of which might have a child or two.

Location

A 17-minute walk to the Eiffel Tower but far from other attractions

Hotel Gustave sits in the Grenelle neighborhood which was made famous by the World Fairs of 1889 and 1900. Today, the hotel sits just a few blocks south of the Seine River and is a 17-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. Surrounding the property, there are some restaurants and cafes, though this isn't Paris's most lively neighborhood, as most attractions are too far to reach on foot. There's a bus stop outside of the hotel and a metro stop that takes six minutes to reach on foot. It would take 12 minutes by car or a 36-minute metro ride to reach the Louvre Museum. Charles de Gaulle Airport is a 40-minute drive away.

Features

Hot and cold breakfast for a fee, honor bar, and free Wi-Fi

With few features, there's little to be impressed with beyond the location and chic rooms at this hotel. Hotel Gustave lacks a restaurant, pool, or gym. It does provide a daily hot and cold breakfast buffet for a fee. The meal is served in a cute breakfast room, on the hotel's charming outdoor courtyard, or in guest rooms. Children under six can have breakfast for free, while children up to eight years of age can order breakfast for half-off. Beyond that, the hotel has a small honor bar in the hotel's sitting room, plus a public computer with a printer, and free Wi-Fi. Parking is not available on-site.
