Bottom Line
Located in the quiet 17th Arrondissement of Paris, the neighborhood surrounding this boutique value hotel is home to a few good restaurants and the metro is down the street -- but don't expect to walk to Paris' main sights. The 21 modern rooms are small, and while many are nicely decorated, some haven't been updated and are a bit more worn than others. Some rooms include kitchenettes and the hotel offers a free breakfast buffet served in a quaint, cellar-like room. It’s a good choice for tourists or business travelers who want to stay in a more local corner of Paris, and due to its location, rates here can be a decent bargain for Paris. Guests looking to be closer to Paris' sights may want to try Hotel du College de France, which is in the Latin Quarter, though rooms can be slightly pricier and a bit less stylish.

Quaint boutique hotel with stylish, period accents
Situated in a lovely corner building that dates back to 1850, the hotel has a quaint boutique charm that's immediately clear upon entering the small lobby. The lobby has iconic black-and-white tile floors, and past the reception desk is a cozy seating area with a few antique chairs, a coffee table, bookshelves, an espresso machine, and free bottled water for guests. There are plants throughout and the walls at the back of the space are covered with earth-toned tree-print wallpaper. Breakfast is served in the cellar, a small room with an arched stone ceiling, wood laminate floors, and a few two-person wooden tables. There is no bar or other dedicated lounge area for guests to relax, and most of the guests here are couples on holiday, though some families, solo travelers, and business travelers are drawn by the often reasonable rates.
Location
Quiet, 17th Arrondissement neighborhood; near metro but far from sights
On a quiet street in Paris' 17th Arrondissement, this is technically still central Paris, but guests should expect to take public transport or taxis to the city's main sights. The neighborhood has a decidedly local feel, and there is a supermarket across the road plus several good restaurants within a 10-minute walk, most considerably less expensive than those in the center of Paris. The Malesherbes Metro stop is a seven-minute walk from the hotel. Square des Batignolles and Parc Monceau are a 15-minute walk away, and ambitious guests can reach the Moulin Rouge in 22 minutes on foot. By metro, the Louvre is 25 minutes away, Notre Dame takes 40 minutes to reach, and a trip to the Eiffel Tower takes 40 minutes. Charles de Gaulle Airport is 30 minutes away by car, and Orly Airport can be reached in 40 minutes by car or cab.
Rooms
Small rooms with classic accents, some with kitchenettes
Most of the rooms here have simple, classically stylish elements, like toile or boldly patterned accent walls offset by sober, striped wallpaper, and are on the small side (though not unreasonably so by Parisian standards) and start at 15 square meters, or 161 square feet. There is a disparity between room quality, and some older rooms showed a bit of wear and tear when we visited. All rooms have blue or red carpets, simple light wood furniture, including headboards and desks, and duvet-covered beds that are made with bed runners to match the overall color scheme. Studios are available that include a small kitchenette with microwave, mini-fridge, and stove top, but seating areas are limited in all rooms. There is free Wi-Fi access in every room as well as a flat-screen TV and safe, though there is no air-conditioning. Tile bathrooms have stand-alone sinks, small shelfs, toiletries, and narrow cube showers, spacious glass showers, or bathtub/shower combos. Noise from other guest rooms can be heard at times, depending on the room's location in the hotel.
Features
Free continental buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi, plus coffee and water in lobby
While there aren't many features to speak of here, the hotel does offer a decent amount of freebies for a value property in Paris. A continental breakfast buffet is included with room rates, and the hotel offers free Wi-Fi access throughout. The lobby features an espresso coffeemaker and a mini-fridge with bottled water available for guests, though there is no bar or full service restaurant. The front desk is staffed around the clock and staff is helpful with restaurant recommendations, airport connections, and tours. This is an elevator building.
