The 25-room Midnight Hotel Paris is a solid mid-range boutique hotel with stylish, contemporary decor but limited extras. Rooms, which can accommodate two to four guests, tend to be small, though attractive and comfortable with wood floors, modern bathrooms, and the usual amenities: AC, flat-screen TVs, electric kettles. Upgraded rooms add sitting areas or even a private hammam. Common spaces are limited to a small lobby, tiny patio, and breakfast room, where a nice daily buffet is served, albeit for an extra fee. While situated outside the major tourist area, the hotel is incredibly convenient to two major transit hubs: Gare de L'Est and Gare du Nord. By comparison, the nearby Hotel Le Marcel offers extra services for similar rates, but rooms can be just as tiny.
Scene
Small-scale boutique property with stylish contemporary decor
The Midnight Hotel Paris is a boutique property situated in a six-story townhouse with a flat beige facade and Juliet balconies. Decor is sophisticated and contemporary throughout -- the lobby pairs moody dark accent walls with wood floors, button-tufted sofas, and armless upholstered chairs. A few columns of inset shelving, filled with books, magazines, and statues, adds homey charm. Despite the refined decor and wood floors found throughout the property, this is still a mid-range option -- rooms can be tiny and the hotel's few common spaces (the lobby, patio, and breakfast room) are also small. Guests include travelers drawn-in by the proximity to major transport hubs, while two- to four-person guest rooms attract both couples and small families or groups.
Location
Right next to transport hubs, but not walking distance to sights
The Midnight Hotel is located in Paris' 10th Arrondissement, a diverse area full of cafes, restaurants, and other hotels. While some find the neighborhood is a little rough around the edges, and it's not walking distance to sights, it is particularly convenient to two major transport hubs: Gare de L'Est and Gare du Nord, which offer local and regional service, including the Eurostar, RER, and metro lines. It's a straight shot to sights like the Louvre and Notre Dame Cathedral, which guests can get to in less than 20 minutes. Charles de Gaulle Airport is accessible in 40 minutes, with no transfers (from the RER B line leaving from Gare du Nord). - Three-minute walk to the Gare de L'Est
Rooms
Tiny but stylish rooms with wood floors, electric kettles, and flat-screen TVs
Thanks in part to 2014 renovations, rooms at the Midnight Hotel are stylish, clean, and contemporary with wood floors and a refined color palette of white and taupe. Photographic murals of Parisian sights sit behind the beds, adding a little flair. Bathrooms vary but are spotless and modern with square sinks, shower stalls, and textured white walls or faux-stone tiling.Rooms are tiny, though thoughtfully orchestrated -- the entry-level Comfort Doubles and Executive Rooms start at just 150 square feet, which isn't out of the norm by Paris standards, but it's still on the small end. The largest Deluxe Suite is almost double this size, adding a sitting area, separate toilet stall, walk-in shower, and luxe in-room hammam. Double, Triple, and Quad Rooms are available. Rooms are air-conditioned and include safes, desks, flat-screen TVs, electric kettles, and free Wi-Fi, though mini-fridges aren't standard. Bathrooms are stocked with hairdryers and a few individual toiletries. Rooms are fairly well-insulated against exterior noise, but light sleepers may still prefer a quieter courtyard-facing room.
Features
Standard mid-range features like breakfast room and small courtyard
Like most mid-range Paris properties, Midnight Hotel has limited extra on-site features. Common spaces include a small but stylish lobby with a reading nook, a charming wood-floored breakfast room with mural walls, and a tiny but nicely maintained second-story courtyard patio with outdoor seating. There's no full-service restaurant, bar, or gym. A good breakfast is available daily, with hot and cold options like fresh-baked bread, cereal, and scrambled eggs. Breakfast costs an extra fee, but many guests find it reasonably priced. Room service just for breakfast is also available. The hotel has a 24-hour front desk and staff can call a taxi, offer ticket assistance, or provide luggage storage. There's a computer station and free Wi-Fi, and pets are allowed for an extra fee.
