Bottom Line

The 52-room, mid-range Villa Luxembourg is situated on the southernmost edge of the city’s 6th Arrondissement a five-minute walk from Luxembourg Gardens. While slightly outside the tourist area, the hotel is still near a plethora of shops, eateries, and metro stations, including one just a two-minute stroll from the hotel. Guests can travel to most Paris hotspots in about a half hour. The hotel decor is somewhat dated and uninspired with neutral colors and brown wood-wall accents. Apartment-style rooms, however, are fairly spacious for a Paris hotel in this price range. And they include air-conditioning, kitchenettes, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel has an on-site meeting room and a breakfast buffet for a fee, but few other property features. The nearby Hotel Lutetia has more up-to-date decor and on-site restaurants, but it's pricier.

Hôtel Villa Luxembourg

Scene

Neutral, traditional interiors and small lobby

Built in 1991, the Villa Luxembourg is a more modern interpretation of the classic Parisian architecture that surrounds it. Though it has a cream-colored facade and Juliet balconies, its giant span of bow windows looks decidedly modern. The interior of the hotel, including in the hallways and common areas, features rich wood walls and accent columns that feel somewhere between traditional and dated. The lobby is basic with neutral decor, including tiled floors, a small seating area, and reception desk. One winding stairway has a full mirrored wall and is accented with plants. The hotel’s proximity to the metro and apartment-like rooms draws tourist clientele, including couples and families.

Rooms

Apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes, air conditioning, and balconies with spectacular views

For a central Paris hotel at this price point, rooms at the Vill Luxembourg are fairly spacious and feature useful apartment-style amenities. Rooms range in size from the one- to two-person Twin Room to the Duplex Suite with two floors and two bedrooms, one with a pull-out sofa. Decor varies from room to room, but in general it is basic, functional, and relatively dated, with cream-colored walls, gray carpeting, old-fashioned bedspreads, and wood wall accents and furniture. All rooms contain desks and chairs as well as kitchenettes with sinks, burners, stocked minibars, and microwaves. But, there are no in-room coffee and tea-making facilities. Bathrooms have red or green tiled walls, beige tiled floors, a small marble vanity, and a combination shower and tub. They include a hairdryer and Zennao toiletries. All rooms also have air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi, and some feature balconies with chairs and a fantastic view of the Boulevard du Montparnasse. Guests suggest getting a street-facing room higher up to make the best use of the views, and they report that despite being along a busy road, rooms are fairly quiet.
