Bottom Line

This modern, mid-range condominium complex offers 15 stylish units, and has a great location within walking distance of a ski lift at Park City Resort and adjacent to a golf course. The condos have three or four bedrooms and bathrooms, and are fully equipped with large kitchens, spacious dining areas, and fireplaces -- some have private outdoor hot tubs. Prices are similar to mid-range hotels at the base of the mountain, and the condos are a good value for large families or groups of friends, as they offer space for up to 10 people to sleep comfortably. Wi-Fi is available in some units.

Payday Condominiums

Scene

Nicely kept grounds near a golf course, but no public areas

There is no public area to hangout at this property, which is comprised only of the cluster of three-story, private condominium buildings, each with beige siding, slanted roofs, and private patios and porches. The grounds are neatly kept and filled with tall birch trees, evergreens, and shrubbery that turns reddish in winter, offering lovely contrast against the white snow. Mountains are visible in the distance from some areas, as are the ponds of the adjacent Park City Golf Course. Gray cement sidewalks lead around the property and to the parking lots, lending a comfortable, suburban feel to the complex. Guests include families and groups of friends, often in Park City for ski trips or summertime hiking and outdoor relaxing.

Location

At the 7th hole of Park City Mountain golf course, a five-minute walk to the chairlift

The condos occupy a medium-size complex bordered by a small lake, the Park City Golf Course, and a residential street. It's a quiet area, though several restaurants, bars, and cafes -- including Squatters Grill and Starbucks -- are about 10 to 15 minutes' walk or under 10 minutes by shuttle. There is a stop for the free, citywide shuttle across the street, and the Silver Star chairlift is about 200 yards away, about a five- to 10-minute walk. There is ski-in/ski-out access for cross-country skiers, as a track goes right by the complex. Main Street, with its many shops, galleries, and restaurants, is about a 20-minute shuttle ride or five to 10 minutes' drive. Deer Valley Resort is a 25-minute shuttle ride or eight-minute drive; Canyons Resort is a 15-minute ride or six-minute drive; and Salt Lake City Airport is around 40 minutes away by car. For summertime visitors, the property is within about 40 minutes of pretty Rocky Mouth Waterfall Trail, and just 15 minutes from Jordanelle Reservoir, which offers watersports.

Rooms

Spacious three-level units with modern kitchens and wood-burning fireplaces, and three or four bathrooms

These spacious condos have plenty of room for large groups to relax, as each unit has three or four bedrooms over three floors. Most are updated and modern, with wood-burning fireplaces, hardwood floors, granite counters, and stainless steel appliances. The decor includes a selection of colorful prints on the walls, rustic-chic light fixtures, and heavy wood tables, dressers, and cabinets. Each kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, gas oven and range, dishwasher, toaster, and coffeemaker; some have bonuses, such as complete spice racks. There are three or four bathrooms in each unit, most updated with attractive, stone tiles lining the floors and shower/tub combos. There’s plenty of natural light coming in from the large windows, and the real wood-burning fireplaces give the living rooms a warm, homey feel. Each unit has a private patio and upstairs deck, many with private hot tubs overlooking the golf course. Most units have free, private Wi-Fi access, and all have several modern TVs with DVD players, and washer/dryers.  There is no air-conditioning, but electric fans are provided. Units are individually owned, so upkeep and decor can vary.
