It sits next to its slightly pricier sister property, Amari Ocean Tower, and guests can share the facilities there. The 226 air-conditioned rooms are decorated in Thai decor and outfitted with flat-screen TVs, minibars, free Wi-Fi, and kettles. Note, however, that there are no elevators and some areas are showing wear. Excellent amenities include a lovely spa, two pools -- one with a swim-up bar -- and well-reviewed dining. For those with children in tow, the hotel has supervised activities for a fee. Families may prefer the Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya, which has more activities for both kids and adults.

Most public spaces have attractive earth-tone furnishings utilizing lots of wood, upholstery in pale shades of red and orange, and potted plants. The hotel has an elegant but relaxed atmosphere, attracting a range of travelers. It sits next door to sister property Amari Ocean Pattaya, and guests can use the facilities at both. Most guests agree the Amari Ocean is in better condition, but it's slightly pricier. The four-story Amari Garden is showing some wear, and there are no elevators. However, a solid list of amenities and its central location across the street from the beach keep guests mostly happy.

It's close to ample restaurants, bars, and attractions, and both taxis and tuk-tuks can be hailed outside the hotel. Jomtien beach, a 25-minute drive away, is a less-crowded option than Pattaya. Pattaya Park, a theme park, is a 20-minute drive, as is the aquarium Underwater World. The nearest airport is located in Bangkok and can be reached in about 90 minutes by car.

Though design varies a bit between categories, most room consists of wood floors and furniture, light walls, white sheets, and pops of red, orange, and green in the upholstery and artwork. Some have lovely decor accents such as gold sculptures. Only some have balconies -- which are furnished and provide either garden or pool views. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, DVD players, free Wi-Fi, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and minibars with free bottled water. Closets feature robes, slippers, and safes. Straightforward bathrooms have shower/tub combos, wall-mounted hairdryers, and toiletries. One Bedroom Suites have spacious, separate living areas with dining tables and couches.

Wi-Fi is free throughout. The well-reviewed restaurants are spacious and modern, and the breakfast buffet is a big hit with guests. Multiple bars are also available, including Tavern by the Sea, which is a casual sports bar with opportunities to watch not only games but also sunsets.
