Set inside a boxy, contemporary building flooded with natural light, the property caters to a design-conscious crowd, and is within a 10-minute walk of the beach and nightlife venues. Airy suites are decorated with modern abstract paintings and shaggy rugs and have surround-sound entertainment systems, all-marble bathrooms, and full kitchens with sleek appliances. While the property lacks the appealingly rustic, beach-inspired flavor of many nearby hotels, its modern elegance is unmatched. 

The 21-room Baan Yin Dee Boutique Resort is a three-and-a-half-pearl property situated on a hilltop overlooking the Andaman Sea. It's a quiet, peaceful place but is only a 10-minute walk or short ride from Patong Beach. Rooms are spacious and decorated in a traditional Boran Thai style, though the look is a bit fusty and dark. All have a balcony or terrace, and some offer direct access to the lovely four-tiered infinity pool, also with beautiful views of the sea. Rice Restaurant serves all meals in a nice open-air space with indoor and outdoor seating. There's no spa, but massage services are available in guest rooms or by the pool. Burasari Resort is a similarly priced alternative -- rooms there are more modern and it has an on-site spa plus free breakfast. 

The 20-room Palmview Resort is more of small and friendly budget hotel than a resort, set away from Patong's beach and town center. The location on a busy street over a mile from the beach is not ideal, but rooms are spacious and clean, with good amenities for longer-stay guests. Cheap rates reflect the setting and general caliber of hotel, though you might get slighter better value for your money at the nearby Valero Guest House.

The 136-room Nap Patong is a stylish upscale resort tucked between the beach and nightlife, with a 24-hour front desk, paid airport transfers, a sleek outdoor pool, a spa, a fitness center, a souvenir shop, and a business center. The 71-room Impiana Resort Patong Phuket is a boutique resort in the lively town of Patong, and one of the few set right on the beach, putting it in an ideal location for travelers who crave both lazy beach days and exciting nightlife. With the sea on one side, and busy Bangla Road -- Patong's nightlife-packed central district -- on the other, the Impiana retains its quiet and secure beach retreat vibe. Rooms are cabana- or bungalow-style, all on one level, with private patios. Should the beach scene be too much, the hotel also has a palm-fringed pool; the hotel also has three restaurants and a beach bar. Families with kids may find the Impiana lacking in on-site activity options, though.

The 67-room, luxury La Flora Resort Patong is a hip boutique hotel located between the beach on one side, and Patong’s busy shops, street food, and nightlife on the other. One of Patong’s more expensive properties, La Flora provides the little extras, such as free in-room minibars (beer included) and GoFlex media players stocked with movies. The decor is modern, elegant, and Thai-inflected. Spacious rooms have spectacular bathrooms. La Flora’s two pools are designed for lap swimming, with no kids' sections or play areas.

The 116-room Senses Resort is a hillside four-pearl hotel that offers panoramic Patong views from its rooftop pool, swim-up bar, and casual restaurant. Rooms also offer great city and sea views from balconies or terraces that have direct pool access. Suites include living rooms and dining tables. There's also, a modern fitness center and spa, airport transfers, and a tour desk. While the hillside location might make it difficult to walk around, the the steep climb brings great views.

A narrow hotel set on one of Patong’s main roads, the mid-range Aspira Prime Patong represents a sweet little boutique alternative to the mega resorts it neighbors. At just 55 rooms it has limited features and public spaces, but a small swimming pool, mini gym, and a breakfast room meet most guests’ requirements. Rooms are also rather straightforward, but they’re pleasantly done up in contemporary decor. Still, they are missing some of the standard amenities offered by other mid-range hotels, such as robes, slippers, coffee/tea facilities, and umbrellas. The central location, walking distance to both the beach and Bangla Road, means travelers are close to all of Patong's main attractions. Those looking for a boutique property with more punchy design could consider The Crib Patong.

The Horizon Patong Beach Resort & Spa is a 160-room, upper-middle-range property with a direct walkway to the beach and a family-friendly atmosphere. Guest rooms are spacious, with minibars and views of gardens, or one of the property's two pools -- one of which is for families with kids. The spa has a mosaic-tiled steam room, and the gym is large and filled with light. There are also separate Indian and Italian restaurants, a free buffet breakfast, and a sports bar with games. Some of the furnishings -- including tube-style TVs -- are dated, though, and Wi-Fi is not free in all rooms. And while the resort is smoke-free, some guests have complained that the staff doesn't always enforce that rule. Another option is the Sunset Beach Resort, which is across the street from the beach and has family-friendly rooms and features. 

The 35-room mid-range Sun Hill Hotel is a pleasant, tidy, family-owned and operated property built into a wooded hillside in one of the seedier areas of Patong that's a 15-minute walk to the town center. The hotel is pretty and clean, with an airy restaurant and small pool. Rooms are spacious and cheerful, with furnished private balconies; some have kitchenettes. 

Fresh off a 2017 revamp, the upper-middle-range Lantern Resorts Patong sits in a central location near the beach and backing right up against the heart of Patong's nightlife. Its 105 rooms range from straightforward Studios to massive Quads that can sleep four, and all offer plush bathrobes, electric kettles, and gigantic flat-screen TVs. Some have balconies, alas without beach views. On-site features are rather extensive, starting with three pools, including a rooftop and kiddy pool with poolside bars. A lively restaurant serving all meals and a massage center round out the offerings. Despite all these facilities, some guests do express some disappointment that The Lantern is closer to a mid-range hotel than its advertised four-star status, and the rare maintenance issues spotted don't help. For another hotel in the area with flashy design, travelers could consider The Crib Patong.

The Swiss Palm Beach, a few minutes' walk to the beach, is a mid-range property with 44 apartment-style rooms in a quiet area of northern Patong. A slightly older property, the eclectic, Thai-influenced decor lends a refreshingly homey atmosphere to this family- and group-friendly property. Apartments have balconies and kitchenettes with dining areas, and Suites have cozy kitchen corners. The outdoor pool has a swim-up bar and is surrounded by greenery, and a casual restaurant and massage center are also on-site. The hotel is a bit pricey for what it offers, and can get overrun with groups; guests seeking splashier amenities and a similarly quiet setting for about the same price might want to check out the Horizon Patong Beach Resort & Spa. 

Devotees of the Best Western brand won’t be disappointed with this upper-middle-range outpost, which offers a fresh and airy counterpoint to the darker earth-toned properties typical of the area. The 254 rooms here are fashionably decorated and spotless, with the full lineup of amenities guests expect of the chain, including free Wi-Fi and minibars. Bathrooms are also modern with walk-in showers (in most). However, even though rooms offer balconies, they're little more than a ledge for fresh air. Features include an attractive rooftop pool and a ground-floor restaurant, but the latter can pick up some roadside traffic noise. Patong’s raging nightlife on Bangla Road is also a mere six-minute walk away, and the beach is 10 minutes away on foot. Travelers could also consider The Crib Patong, another hip hotel in the area.

Bright, trendy, and youthful -- just like its guests -- the mid-range Crib Patong is a true boutique hotel in the heart of Patong, right near Bangla Road, the main nightlife artery of the area. Its punchy design is on display in all of its 85 rooms, complete with little balconies and strong, free Wi-Fi. The on-site restaurant serves up breakfast and lunch for a fee, and the entire building is capped off by a cute rooftop pool. While the pool and fitness center are petite, and the location can pick up some exterior noise, it’s a fun, fashionable option for those that want to be immersed in the Patong scene. Another nearby option to consider is the Best Western Patong Beach, which also has a fashion-forward look and proximity to Bangla.

Club Bamboo Boutique Resort and Spa is a 47-room, mid-range property set within lush jungle terrain overlooking Patong Bay, within a mile of Patong Beach. The secluded property offers free shuttle service to nearby destinations, as well as motorbike rentals, making it a convenient choice for guests seeking a quiet setting within easy reach of the Patong scene. Rooms come with minibars, and are elegantly decorated with Baroque-style wood furniture. Family Suites can sleep up to four, Bungalow Suites come with private terraces, and Villas have private pools and up to three bedrooms. The resort has a beautiful pool shaded by leafy trees, a restaurant and bar with daily happy hour, a spa and gym, and free Wi-Fi throughout. Some guests have complained about minor maintenance problems in rooms. Guests who want to be closer to the beach can check out the Impiana Resort Patong Phuket, but its rates are higher.
