Hotel Diana Pompei

The Hotel Diana Pompei is a small, family-run property originally built in 1968 and completely renovated in 2013. The three-story square building features a flat, light pink Mediterranean facade with white trim and wood shutters. The lobby is simple with a gray tiled floor, white walls, and wood reception desk. There's a small sitting area near reception with two couches and a coffee table, but the real common area here is the backyard, which includes a well-maintained swath of green lawn studded in Mediterranean plants and citrus trees, plus a stone patio with black wicker chairs, tables, and armchairs. Guests should note that all amenities are situated at the main hotel, and that some rooms are housed in an annex about two blocks away. Like other lower-middle-range spots, this hotel is low on extra property features, but it still offers its share of bonuses, including free parking and free breakfast, plus a dedicated staff that provides more welcoming and intimate service than the typical chain. The property is ideal for tourists, while three- and four-person rooms and a backyard play area make it a good choice for families traveling with children. 

The hotel is situated on a fairly quiet side street near Pompeii's historic center, just a one-minute walk from the Pompeii Train Station and a 10-minute walk from the famous Pompeii archeological site. Shops, restaurants, and cafes are also within walking distance. Free parking is available on-site. Many popular regional sights are in driving distance (the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento are about an hour drive). The Ruins of Herculaneum and Vesuvius are also an easy drive, about 20 minutes. The train offers access to regional destinations, such as Naples. Naples International Airport is a half-hour drive without traffic or an hour to an hour and a half via public transportation. 

Guest rooms at Hotel Diana Pompei vary in size and decor, but most are simple with tiled floors, colorful accent walls, and wood laminate furniture. Rooms can accommodate one to four guests, and all included individually controlled air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, desks, and wardrobes with safes. Wi-Fi is free, though some guests complain it's spotty. Most rooms do not have coffee/tea service or mini-fridges. Bathrooms are modern and simple with colorful or white tiling and white fixtures. They may include shower stalls, bidet, and heated towel racks in addition to simple toiletries and hairdryers.

Guests should note that "dependence" rooms are situated in the annex, located about two blocks from the main hotel where all of the amenities are situated. Some guests find this frustrating. Single Rooms can be quite small, but larger rooms may include extra amenities, such as a patio or a kitchenette with a fridge. Guests find the rooms clean, but some say the walls are thin. 

Hotel Diana Pompei has a handful of amenities aimed at convenience. The property serves up a daily continental breakfast with cold options like cereal, bread, fruit, cheese and meat, and coffee. It's basic, but guests find it good especially for the price -- free. The hotel also offers 24-hour room service, and a small casual brick bar, which serves up coffee and alcoholic drinks, including local wines. 

The lobby has a TV, a small library of books, and a table with two computers available for guest use. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, though some guests complain of spotty service. There's a small terrace on the first floor and a nice garden furnished with tables and chairs, plus a toddler's play area a slide, play house, and swing. Childcare can be arranged for an extra fee. Dogs are allowed for no additional fee.
