Bottom Line

Design Hotel Jewel Prague is a colorful boutique hotel near many shops and restaurants in Old Town. The upscale hotel has 11 jewel-themed rooms; all are on the small side, but are outfitted with special touches like homemade chocolates and fruit-infused water. The attractive cafe and restaurant has a seasonal, regularly rotating menu, and an extensive free breakfast with made-to-order items is available to all guests. The hotel is within walking distance to several of Prague’s sightseeing attractions, but there's no elevator, which may be a problem for some. Still, it's one of the most stylish options for the price in this central location; the nearby Savic Hotel has bigger rooms and historical character, but it's usually a bit more expensive.

Design Hotel Jewel Prague

Scene

Modern design hotel with jewel-inspired decor

The hotel's name and theme owes its origins to a jeweler who decorated the building with a jewel motif at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, sparkly chandeliers and jewel prisms in stairways are a throwback to the building’s history. Rooms are named after gems, such as amethyst, pearl, and onyx, and the names are written in cursive gold letters on black, wooden doors. The lobby is rather small, its crystal chandeliers the only nod to the theme, but the restaurant on the ground floor has more than 10,000 crystals for decoration. The bar is covered in a mosaic tile design, and tea lights and fresh flowers add to the romantic atmosphere.
