Bottom Line

Residence Green Lobster is a 14-room boutique hotel in a restored 14th-century building. Located in the Malá Strana quarter, this three-pearl sweetheart of a hotel is within walking distance of major attractions like Prague Castle and Charles Bridge. Many of the elegant rooms feature canopied beds with dramatic bedding, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and kettles. There’s little else that’s inviting here, as there’s no restaurant, gym, bar, or even breakfast. Wi-Fi is free and cold bottled drinks are for sale in the lobby. Prices are hard to beat at Green Lobster, but Kampa Garden is a good alternative for on-site breakfast, free minibars in rooms, and a location closer to Old Town.

Hotel Residence Green Lobster

Scene

Historic hotel with a romantic flair and no public spaces

Residence Green Lobster is split between two buildings sitting on opposite sides of Nerudova Street. The main building is a renovated historic building from the 14th century, which influences the elegant period design throughout. The other building holds the Executive Rooms. The hotel is popular among couples, as the decor is done in the romantic color palette of red, gold, and cream. Ornate period furniture and deep red carpet decorate the small reception area. Within the hotel’s walls, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. Since there are no public spaces or amenities on-site, the hotel is mostly just a place to lie one’s head at night.

Location

Within walking distance to Prague Castle, Old Town, and dining options

Old Town may be the most well-known and popular neighborhood for tourists in Prague, but that’s not to say that other areas don’t come with their own perks. Residence Green Lobster is located about a 21-minute walk uphill from Old Town in Mala Strana, a quiet neighborhood with its own attractions. It’s a seven-minute walk to Prague Castle and 10 minutes to the Monastery Infant Jesus of Prague. The Lennon Wall takes 12 minutes to reach on foot, whereas Charles Bridge is a 16-minute walk away. There’s plenty of dining options (and a Starbucks) on surrounding streets and a bus stop around the corner. It’s a 25-minute drive to Vaclav Havel International Airport.

Rooms

Elegant rooms with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and mobile air-conditioning units

The 14 spacious and elegant rooms at this hotel have parquet wooden floors, antique wooden furniture, and period furnishings in sumptuous colors of red, gold, and cream. Four-poster beds are swathed in moody fabrics for a romantic vibe in most rooms. Modern touches like flat-screen TVs, safes, mini-fridges, and kettles are added to the mix. Free Wi-Fi and bottled water are provided in all rooms. Unfortunately, mobile air-conditioning units detract from the rooms otherwise romantic vibe. Some Executive Rooms are outfitted with small kitchenettes with two-burner stoves. The neighborhood isn’t busy with traffic, so rooms are generally quiet. Bathrooms are individually designed and some are more luxe than others. They offer bidets, hairdryers (old and new varieties), and toiletries in wall dispensers. Some have tiny stall showers and others have tubs with hand-held shower heads.

Features

Drinks for sale in the lobby, free Wi-Fi, and pets welcome

Most boutique hotels have a reputation for offering limited amenities, and the Residence Green Lobster is no exception. The lobby offers wine, beer, bottled water, and soda for sale. There's a desktop computer for guests to borrow and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, though it's not always reliable. Paid parking can be arranged on arrival and pets are welcome for a daily charge.
