This small, family-friendly hotel, built by three brothers in 1980, is right off the slopes of the Rhaetian Alps. The 59 rooms are bright and feature lots of light wood, but flat-screen TVs and showers are tiny; suites and family-sized rooms are also available. The hotel has a big focus on wellness, with a massive spa and a large gym. There are also two indoor pools, one for adults and one for kids, and common areas include a smoking room. The design of the nearby Hotel Adamello is arguably more aesthetically pleasing, though it doesn’t have the spa or pools of Hotel Sporting.

Dated design in a well-maintained hotel that's popular with sporty families
The design of the hotel seems not to have changed much since the 1980s, with the light-colored wood and tile floors that have an overall yellow cast. That said, the Sporting is well-maintained and quaint, with moose and gnome figurines scattered around the lobby. The walls in the smoking room are decorated with stenciled flowers and the room has a tiny tube TV. The restaurant is filled with bright rose-colored fabrics and flower-shaped light fixtures. The bar is decorated in pastel colors and is more relaxing than lively. The spa is large but not particularly fancy, decorated with flowers and figurines. The pool areas are made to look like they are outdoors, with mountain murals, and a foot bridge spans the adult pool. Guests here tend to be outdoorsy types in town for mountain activities, and the hotel's kid-friendly facilities make it a popular choice with families.

A short walk to town and the chairlifts, with a free ski bus
The hotel is about a five-minute walk down the road from the chairlifts and the center of Passo del Tonale, with plenty of restaurants and shops. A free ski bus runs regularly and stops by the hotel. Travelers taking the train can travel to Male, then take a coach bus. The closest airport is Verona Villafranca Airport, which is about 2 hours and 20 minutes away. Milan Malpensa gets a larger number of international flights and is a three-hour drive away.

The hotel’s 59 rooms come in Standard and Superior varieties, with suites for families. Rooms come with 24-inch flat-screen TVs, safes, and hairdryers, and Wi-Fi is available for a fee. The decor is dominated by light-colored wood found both on walls and on furniture. The Junior Suites have murals designed to look like windows peering out on the mountains, while the Rustic Room has some bricks affixed onto one of the walls, in an attempt to give the space a shabby-chic feel. The bathrooms in the Junior Suites have walk-in showers with stone tiles and funky colored lights, while the bathroom in the Rustic Room has a tiny walk-in shower.
