Bottom Line

The upper-middle-range Delta Quebec is a solid choice for business and leisure travelers alike. Fresh from a renovation completed in 2014, it’s a modern hotel adjacent to the Quebec City Convention Centre and within walking distance to many of the historic city’s top attractions. Highlights include underground parking, lots of meeting space, a large fitness center with sauna, and a heated outdoor pool open year-round. Its 377 rooms are clean and include coffeemakers and smart desks that are wired for connections to various electronic devices. But, there are no safes and mini-fridges come with a surcharge. Rates are competitive, but you might want to comparison shop with the upper-middle-range Hilton Quebec that’s also connected to the convention center.

Scene

A high-rise business hotel with a fresh and modern lobby

This large, high-rise hotel that’s managed by Marriott International is primarily a business hotel, given its location adjacent to the city’s largest conference facility. But, it’s close enough to Quebec City’s many historic attractions to attract a good deal of leisure travelers on weekends and during special events like the Winter Carnival. Thanks to a 2014 renovation, the lobby is fresh and modern, but the building shows its age in a few places like the exposed brick walls. Banks of windows keep the low ceilings from making the lobby gloomy, but it’s still a bit dark and boring, despite clusters of neutral modern furniture. You’ll see a lot of people passing through the lobby on the way to the convention center or their rooms, but bigger crowds are typically seen at the hotel’s function spaces. Overall, it’s a relatively quiet hotel, despite its size.

Connected to the convention center in downtown Quebec City

The Delta Quebec is located in the Old Town District which is directly connected via an enclosed walkway to the Quebec City Convention Centre. It’s within walking distance or a brief drive to most of the historic city’s other major attractions. - Three-minute walk to House of Parliament

  • 15-minute walk to Citadel de Quebec, the historic military base
  • 17-minute walk to the 17th-century Notre-Dame de Quebec Cathedral
  • Five-minute drive to Musee National des Beaux Arts
  • Five-minute drive to historic Battlefields Park
  • 13-minute drive to Quartier du Petit Champlain, North America’s oldest commercial district
  • 30-minute drive to Jean Lesage Airport

Rooms

Clean and modern, with smart desks, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi

The rooms are modern and remain clean and well maintained after they were renovated between 2012 and 2014. The color palette consists mostly of soft earth tones, except for orange accents on bed throws, bed skirts, and contemporary art hung above the beds. The grayish light brown carpet complements the light beige wallpaper and upholstered armchairs or sofas. The modular-style wood furniture has a dark finish, and the roomy desks have white acrylic tops. The renovation added smart desks that have connections for a wide array of electronic equipment, including a way to connect laptops to the 42-inch flat-screen TVs. Coffeemakers and free Wi-Fi are standard amenities and mini-fridges are available for an extra fee. Bathrooms provide plenty of space with large, white acrylic vanities, wood wall shelves, and shower/tub combos framed by white tile. The rooms are generally quiet and most feature views of the city. Club rooms on the top (12th) floor include access to the Club Lounge that offers free continental breakfast, non-alcoholic drinks, and afternoon appetizers.
