Bottom Line

One of the longest operating hotels in Surfers Paradise, Chateau Beachside is a mid-range, low-key property right across the street from the beach. The hotel offers 100 bright rooms and apartments with microwaves, flat-screen TVs, and DVD players. Apartments also have full kitchens. Features include a huge pool, a well-furnished game room with a pool table, foosball, and arcade games, and coin-operated laundry facilities. While there are no on-site dining options, the hotel does have a couple of barbecue grills that guests can use. This is a great choice for families and couples alike, but families with kids should also consider Paradise Resort Gold Coast, which has bunk beds and gaming systems in the rooms plus a water park, an indoor ice-skating rink, and supervised children's activities.

Chateau Beachside

Scene

Mid-range and laid-back property across from the beach

Chateau Beachside is one of the oldest hotels in popular Surfers Paradise, it's housed in a tall tower of a building with a pool in the back. The lobby is simple and functional, with a few plush chairs and sofas, a couple of coffee tables, an ATM, and two racks of tourism brochures. A popcorn dispenser with free popcorn for guests in the evenings sits next to the front desk, and a pair of elevators leads up to the rooms. Most guests are vacationing couples and families who want easy access to the beach. The hotel's proximity to the town's main attractions make it a good choice for travelers without cars.
