Scene

Scandinavian-style hotel with eclectic interiors

Alda Hotel Reykjavik is a centrally located city hotel with modern Scandinavian-style interiors. Guests are welcomed into the small lobby with dark tiled floors and a standard reception desk. The lobby then leads into a more welcoming lounge space with wooden floors and eclectic collection of wonderfully curated mismatched furniture and decor -- like only the Scandinavians can do. On the other side is a funky modern barber, with white and red mosaic windows, red and gold stars hanging from the roof, modern bare light-bulb lights, and traditional leather barber chairs. The Barber Cafe is yet another unique space with a slightly more industrial vibe, including exposed ceiling, large windows looking out onto the street, combination of cafe-style and more formal-style seating, and central bar with low hanging light fittings. The atmosphere here is fun and relaxed. Guests are mostly made up of leisure travelers (particularly those wanting to shop), and a few business travelers passing through.

Location

Located on the popular Laugavegur shopping street

Located on the eastern part of Reykjavik's main shopping street, Laugavegur, Alda Hotel Reykjavik is ideally located for tourists looking to shop. There are also numerous dining facilities within the nearby vicinity, along with a few grocery stores. It's a six-minute walk to Hallgrimskirkja Church, a 15-minute walk to Reykjavik Art Museum, and a 16-minute walk to Lake Tjornin. The heart of downtown, where most of the lively nightlife takes place, is about 15 minutes on foot. The start of the Sculpture and Shore Walk along the northern coastline is about a 15-minute walk away, while the Nautholsvik Geothermal Beach is 11 minutes by car. The Hlemmur Bus Stop is four minutes on foot, where the pick-ups/drop-offs from the airport coaches take place. There is no on-site parking, and the nearest public parking spot is just a three-minute walk away (at Laugavegur 94). It's less than a 10-minute drive to Reykjavik Domestic Airport and a 45-minute drive to Keflavik International Airport.
