Bottom Line

The 90-room mid-range Lindia Thalassa Resort is the oldest in a three hotel complex on a hill above a narrow, private beach. Guests may use pools, bars, and dining facilities at all three properties. The hotel is built like a Greek village, with rooms in different building blocks, and all rooms have basic kitchenettes and nice balconies. Rooms are charming and comfortable, decorated with Greek island flair. The Lindia Thalassa has a folklore museum in the lobby and a kids' club with plenty of entertainment.

Lindia Thalassa Resort

Scene

Beachside mid-range hotel

The Lindia Thalassa Resort has an authentic, quirky island charm that begins at the gracefully curved front desk, with its unusual key boxes, folk art, tapestries, and in the lobby with its nautical touches, such as a shell and rope-framed mirror, and a cool, ghostly, driftwood and rope sculpted sailing ship. Everything is done in white stucco with fresh Mediterranean blue trim, and the blue sun loungers and striped beach umbrellas echo the buildings' color scheme. The lobby features a Museum of Folklore Art exhibiting handicrafts, painting, sculpture, and local costumes, as well as an assortment of island artifacts and historic photographs. Furnishings are older, but simple, spotlessly clean and well-maintained, so the hotel doesn't show age or wear.

Location

Walking distance to Pefkos village, in a hilly area above the beach

The Lindia Thalassa Resort sits in a hilly area a 10-minute walk from the center of charming Pefkos village, where guests can browse shops and wander the local bars and restaurants. The beach is down a steep flight of stairs at the bottom of a cliff. The livelier town of Lindos is three miles from the hotel, and both the town of Rhodes and the island's airport are a 30-mile drive. Guests can relax at the peaceful hotel, or tour the island, if they want more excitement.

Rooms

Charming and rustic rooms, with artistic touches

Rooms at the Lindia Thalassa Resort are spacious and charming, done in whitewashed stucco, with built-in headboards that look like the roof line of a Greek island village, with stone nooks and tile floors. All rooms have simple kitchenettes with two burner cooktops, but no microwaves. Balconies with sea views are worth the extra charge. There is a fee for air-conditioning, and TVs are old, tube-style. Bathrooms are basic and could be updated, but are immaculately clean. Buildings do not have elevators, so guests with mobility issues should request a ground-floor room.
