Scene
Relaxed and basic hotel in safe location -- a good value for tourists
Housed in an 11-story tower, this basic hotel is casual and relaxed. Its best feature is its location, right in the middle of Rio's two most popular neighborhoods. The style here is pretty simple, and the hotel is best used as a home base for exploring and hitting the beach. The lobby isn't fancy, but it provides a place where guests can hang out to relax, talk, read the free newspapers, or use the free computers. Plastic flowers are used for decoration, an indicator of the level of quality here. With its good location, reasonable rates, and free breakfast, this hotel attracts all sorts of budget-conscious tourists, including couples, families, and groups.
Location
Good location between Copacabana and Ipanema, within walking distance to most everything
This hotel is situated between Copacabana and Ipanema, a five-minute walk from Arpoador. In other words, it's ludicrously close to the most popular areas in Rio de Janeiro. The property sits on a small street in a quiet location, with several restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, pharmacies, and bakeries in the neighborhood. Guests can walk to both Copacabana and Ipanema Beaches in less than five minutes, and the General Osorio Metro Station is an eight-minute walk from the hotel. The Copacabana Fort is a 10-minute walk, as is Ipanema's Sunday Hippie Fair, and buses also stop near the hotel.. Plan on 40 minutes to reach Rio de Janeiro/Galeão–Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport by car, or about an hour and a half by public transportation.
Rooms
Clean, unadorned rooms with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and minibars
This hotel offers three types of rooms: 20 Economy with views of a wall, 57 Standard Rooms, and nine Sea View Rooms. All are small and basic, with white tile floors and simple clean-lined furniture that's showing a bit of wear in some cases. Decor is almost nonexistent, with the exception of tangerine-hued accent walls and some faded floral wall art. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, safes, and minibars. There are no coffeemakers. Family Rooms with three or four beds are available, and Standard Rooms have small sofas. Tiny bathrooms feature walk-in showers, hairdryers, and toiletries. Sea View rooms overlook the city and the sea in the distance, but there are no balconies.
Features
Restaurant and bar, free breakfast, small rooftop pool, sauna, computer corner, and free Wi-Fi
This simple hotel doesn't offer a lot of features, but it covers the basics. A free breakfast buffet is served daily in a casual space on the lobby level. Selections include fruits, breads, cereals, and hot items such as eggs and sausage. The restaurant also has a bar, and light fare is served throughout the day. Room service is available. The pool on the rooftop is tiny, but the views from the terrace are spectacular. A few lounge chairs are available, as well as dining tables and chairs. There's also a sauna and a whirlpool, and -- in the summer months -- a bar serving drinks. Two computers are set up in a corner of the lobby for guests to use for free, and free newspapers are available in the lobby as well. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
