There are some trees and open grassy lawns around the hotel. Once inside, this chain property is low on frills and ambience, but it's generally well-maintained. There are flat-screen TVs attached to the walls in the lobby and breakfast room, which are outfitted in generic earth-tone furnishings and a few decor touches such as a longhorn skull and photos of San Antonio landmarks. Most visitors to the hotel are families in town either to spend time at SeaWorld or Lackland Air Force Base.

It’s in a quiet area with nothing nearby except apartment buildings, however, proximity to the highway makes it easy to drive to attractions. SeaWorld San Antonio is only a 10-minute drive away. Families in town for graduations at Lackland Air Force Base are also 10 minutes away by car. Other activities include horseback riding at Westcreek Trail Rides, a seven-minute drive away, and getting dinner and a movie at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, a 13-minute drive away. Downtown San Antonio and the River Walk are about 25 to 30 minutes away by car. San Antonio International Airport is a 32-minute drive away. Ample free parking is available on-site.
