Bottom Line

The Days Hotel -
Hotel Circle is a mid-range, motel-style property located just
off the freeway in San Diego's Mission Valley district. While the immediate
surroundings are unattractive, its central position makes for an easy
drive to most San Diego attractions. Rooms are well-maintained, but they do get some noise from the freeway. There are a swimming pool and a hot tub on-site, and Wi-Fi and parking are free. While there are plenty of similar lodgings on this stretch of road, the Days Hotel is one of the better values.

Scene

Standard low-rise motel within earshot of the freeway

The Days Hotel - Hotel Circle by SeaWorld is a low-rise
motel-style property with Mission-style architectural touches that looks out over a parking lot lined with palm trees and shrubbery. The lobby area is simple and
clean with tiled floors, faux-leather upholstery, and a polished granite reception desk. While some of the interiors
have benefitted from a modern makeover, the corridors and parts of the exterior show signs of wear, such as scuffing, and feel dated. It's almost impossible to escape hearing at least some noise from the nearby freeway
throughout the property, though it's usually faint enough not to be
disturbing.

Location

In Mission Valley overlooking the freeway, a 10-minute drive from downtown San Diego

The Days Hotel is located on
a long stretch of road that runs parallel to the Interstate 8 in the
heart of San Diego's Mission Valley. The south side of the road is lined
with hotels, motels, and inns, but there's little else within walking distance.
The location, however, is well positioned for accessing
anywhere in San Diego by car -- downtown, the airport, and SeaWorld are all
around a 10-minute drive away. There's also a bus stop just outside the hotel
and guests can travel directly to Old Town in under 10 minutes.

Rooms

Renovated rooms with microwaves, fridges, and TVs -- and some traffic noise

The hotel has 280
rooms, all of which are decorated in better-than-average motel-styling with
patterned fabrics and modern wooden furnishings. Interiors are clean and generally
well-maintained, with only the odd sign of wear. In-room amenities include
coffeemakers, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, and free
Wi-Fi -- though the connection can be slow. Some rooms also have kitchenettes, while
the majority of bathrooms feel freshly renovated (although a few remain in need of
a makeover). Noise from the nearby freeway might be an issue in roadside rooms.

Features

On-site burger restaurant and heated swimming pool with lounge chairs and hot tub

The hotel's single dining option is Bunz Burger Joint, which focuses primarily on farm-to-table burgers and hotdogs. It's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and has an
outdoor patio. There's also an outdoor heated pool big enough for swimming laps that's surrounded
by a terrace with lounge chairs, umbrellas, greenery, and a hot tub. The hotel also has a small gym and on-site laundry facilities. Parking is plentiful and free of charge.
