Pavilion Grand Hotel

Scene

A modern, upscale boutique hotel originally designed as a residential complex

This upscale boutique hotel that opened in 2014 was originally planned as a condo complex, and its spacious suites and event space attract a diverse mix of guests, including those attending corporate retreats and weddings. The small oval lobby is modern and stylish, with nice upholstered furniture in vibrant colors like ocean blue and fuchsia. A striking, modern chandelier explodes with color from tangled strands of glass in green, yellow, blue, and fuchsia. Large pieces of modern photography add more color, as does the round fuchsia rug on the gray tile floors with black granite stripes. The modest wood front desk has a white marble top. Despite the comfortable seating and colorful ambience, guests don’t tend to linger in the lobby. They usually register and retire to their suites or venture out to explore the quaint town that’s filled with history.

Rooms

Large, condo-style suites with sleeper sofas, room service, full kitchens, washer/dryer sets, and 55-inch TVs

The Pavilion Grand Hotel's 49 apartment-like suites have nine-foot ceilings and lots of windows that let in ample natural light. Even the Signature Studio Suites are exceptionally spacious at 600 square feet, and most other one- and two-bedroom suites range from 750 to 1,000 square feet. The bi-level Penthouse Suites encompass 1,700 to 2,300 square feet and include two bedrooms, three bathrooms, and balconies or beautiful rooftop gardens. There are several suite options, but the decor varies only slightly -- most are painted in soft earth tones, but some have gold accent walls behind the beds. The white bedding has brightly colored throws and bolster pillows. Carpeting is light gray and beige in a striped pattern, and the kitchen areas have laminate wood-plank floors. Kitchen cabinets match the dark finish of the wood furniture, and the upholstered sleeper sofas and chairs are mostly done in light earth tones. Even the smaller Signature Studio Suites have full kitchens with stainless steel appliances that include full-size refrigerators, microwaves, and dishwashers. Larger suites have ovens and bars with stools, while the Studios have stovetops and no bars. But, even the smaller suites have dining tables. The units also have washer/dryers. Bathrooms are large and similarly decorated, with distinctive, brownish-gray tile floors, and dark-wood vanities with white acrylic tops. Shower/tub combos are framed by white tile and have rainfall showerheads. All suites include Keurig coffeemakers, 55-inch flat-screen TVs, robes, safes, and free Wi-Fi.
