Scene
A charming Victorian Inn with the ambiance of a bed-and-breakfast
This pretty Victorian Inn has an intimate atmosphere and elegant, traditional decor. Period antiques and lavish touches fill the parlor, such as crimson velour benches and gold crown molding, and the inviting room has plenty of comfortable places to sit and enjoy breakfast or a cup of coffee. The look continues throughout the property's public spaces, including the covered front porch with rocking chairs and a lovely courtyard with a fire pit. The hotel mostly attracts couples and the vibe is decidedly adult, but families are seen here, too. The delightful tavern is an especially lively place on evenings when it hosts live music.
Location
On the southern end of downtown Saratoga Springs

Saratoga Springs Race Course, America’s oldest thoroughbred race track, is about a seven-minute drive. It's about five minutes to Saratoga Springs Spa State Park, and Saratoga Springs Casino and Hotel and Saratoga Performing Arts Center are both about an eight-minute drive. Saratoga Springs National Historical Park and its Revolutionary War battlefields are 20 minutes away by car, and Six Flags Great Escape theme park is a 26-minute drive. Albany International Airport is 35 minutes away by car.
Rooms
Comfortable and individually decorated in a classic Victorian style
The Inn's elegant guest rooms are individually decorated with period antiques or quality reproductions. Many have four-poster beds, and Damask patterns are often seen on the wallpaper, bedspreads, or carpet, which is typically deep red or dark blue. The walls and drapes feature light earth tones, but the dark-wood furniture, soft lighting, and rather small windows make some rooms a bit dark. Vintage artworks or prints--including some that depict the city’s long racing history--and a touch of local character.Standard Kings and Double Doubles are comfortable but not overly spacious and have desks and armchairs, while Suites -- including the four housed in the separate Brownell Cottage -- are significantly larger and include sofas in living rooms. Bathrooms are generously sized, with shower/tub combos framed by white subway tile, classic black-and-white tile floors, and marble vanities with raised basin sinks. The Brownell Cottage Suites feature heated floors, separate whirlpool tubs, and glass-enclosed walk-in showers. Standard amenities include coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Mini-fridges are added in Suites.
