Bottom Line

The three-pearl Las Casas De Los Mercaderes is a small and historic boutique hotel with an ideal location in Seville's historic center. Several restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, and the Cathedral and Giralda Tower are within close walking distance. The 47 guest rooms have simple decor, but nice amenities like flat-screen TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi; some have balconies. There's an a la carte and buffet breakfast available each morning in the courtyard (for a fee) and the adjacent bar serves a variety of beverages and tapas. Additional features are limited to a meeting room and small business center. As an alternative, El Rey Moro Hotel Boutique Sevilla is another charming boutique hotel in the historic center with more freebies (including bikes to borrow and walking tours) and a rooftop terrace with hot tub -- but prices are slightly higher.

Las Casas de Los Mercaderes

Scene

Boutique hotel housed in a charming 18th-century building

Housed in an 18th-century building, previously an old trading center, Las Casas De Los Mercaderes is a boutique hotel oozing in Spanish charm. It's situated on a pedestrian cobblestone street, meaning no traffic noise. The lobby is an open area with tiled floors, cream walls, thin black pillars, small reception desk, lounge area, and corner grand piano. Leading off from the lobby, the central courtyard and its brightly-colored mosaic glass roof is the main highlight here, offering a lovely place for guests to enjoy breakfast each morning. The inner hallways are lined with antique black and white artwork on the walls, while the outer hallways are open to the central courtyard. The bar is adjacent to the hotel and features both indoor and al fresco seating on the street. Overall, the atmosphere here is warm and welcoming. Guests are mostly leisure travelers, both couples and solo, while the central location also attracts a few guests in town for business.

Pleasant rooms with flat-screen TVs, minibars, and some with balconies

The 47 guest rooms at Las Casas De Los Mercaderes are rather basic though still have some charm. All of the rooms feature wooden floors and furniture with mostly beige walls, patterned curtains, and plain white linen. Each room has a differently colored accent wall (either maroon, blue, or emerald green) behind the bed, and slightly old-fashioned framed artwork. Both Single and Double Rooms are available; note that the Single Rooms are quite small. Amenities in all rooms include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, minibars, telephones, safes, and free Wi-Fi.
