Bottom Line
Consistently praised by travelers from around the world, the mid-range Terrazze di Montelusa is a graceful and historic mansion in the center of Agrigento that's been owned and maintained by the same family since 1822. There are only five rooms and suites, all of which are airy and spotless. As a smaller boutique hotel, there aren't a lot of features. A serene and plant-lined terrace is where an extensive, free breakfast featuring made-to-order omelets is served every morning and there's a pizzeria on the ground floor.

Scene
Full of history, heirlooms, and plants
Housed on the top two floors of a restored building that's belonged to the same family since 1822, the Terrazze di Montelusa is immaculate inside and out. Interiors are adorned with fresh plants and flowers as well as family heirlooms, trinkets, vases, paintings, and photographs. Curious house cats can often be found lounging on the lovely, partially shaded terrace, which offers inspiring views of the old town, Valley of the Temples, and the sea in the distance. A shiny piano is the main attraction in the cozy lobby and the ground floor is occupied by a popular pizzeria, although the rooms and hotel common areas are quiet and peaceful.
Location
In center of historic old town
The B&B is located in Lena square in the historic center of Agrigento, overlooking other historical buildings. Via Atenea, the old town’s main street, is a two-minute walk away. The hotel occupies the third and fourth floors of the building and the ground floor houses a pizzeria. The Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is about 15-minutes away by car and driving to the beach takes about 10-minutes. Several Baroque churches are within 10-minutes from the hotel on foot and the Luigi Pirandello Theater is a three-minute walk down the road. The main bus and train stations are a 10-minute walk away.
Rooms
Five large, well-decorated, and spotless rooms and suites
Although the curtains, upholstery, furniture and TVs are dated in a couple of rooms, each of the Terazze’s five rooms and suites is spotless and features a unique set of prints and wall decor. Some have exposed wooden beams on the ceilings. There is plenty of floor space and suites are particularly roomy, with large living rooms and bright patios or balconies with tables and chairs. All rooms have private bathrooms with tubs or walk-in showers, hairdryers, and heated towel racks. Air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and cable channels, including a couple in English, are standard in-room amenities.
Features
Free breakfast with cooked-to-order omelets and an on-site pizzeria
A free breakfast is served on the terrace every morning and features fresh cappuccinos, Sicilian pastries, fruit, yogurt, and omelets. Guests are offered coffee, tea, and wine in the evenings and there's a pizzeria on the ground floor of the property. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the property and the owner is happy to phone in restaurant and tour reservations. Parking can be tricky but is usually possible on the street right outside.
