Bottom Line

Located a few minutes from Pearson International and connected to it by a free 24-hour shuttle, this four-pearl Sheraton property is first and foremost an airport hotel. However, it surpasses others on several fronts. For starters, the entire property, renovated in 2016, has a stylish streamlined decor, and its 249 spacious rooms include Sheraton’s signature beds, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges and Starbucks coffeemakers. Club Rooms and Junior Suites come with extras, like access to an executive lounge where guests can take advantage of free food and drinks. Other features include an on-site conference center, a business center, a restaurant with adjoining bar, a fitness center, plus a sunny indoor pool. That said, if you’re simply looking for a place to sleep between flights, there are less expensive alternatives, such as the area's Holiday Inn.

Scene

Stylish contemporary spot that’s a cut above most airport chain hotels

Drawing tourists and business travelers on layovers, as well as delegates attending events at either the on-site conference center or a nearby venue, this Sheraton has a clean-lined contemporary look that will likely impress all groups. Admittedly, the tiled entry with its wood-paneled reception desk seems a tad institutional (this is a chain hotel, after all), but floor-to-ceiling windows, a funky rug and field-stone fireplace amp up the cozy quotient in the adjacent seating area. The decorating scheme extends into the Olio bar and restaurant, where another armchair-edged fireplace awaits. The overall effect is pleasant enough that, if it weren’t for the occasional sound of jets overhead, you could forget the airport was so close.

Location

Conveniently close to Toronto Pearson International Airport

A free shuttle connects this Sheraton outpost to Pearson with a travel time of five to eight minutes, depending on the terminal and traffic. For most guests that’s all that matters. However, if you’re here on business it’s good to know that, in addition to having its own conference facilities, the hotel puts you within an eight-minute drive of both the Toronto Congress Centre (one of the continent’s largest exhibition venues) and the multipurpose International Centre. Other hotels and office buildings are in the immediate area, and you’ll even find a few over-sized eateries within walking distance. But you’ll have to go into Toronto itself to feel a big city buzz. The downtown TDot can be easily reached via Up Express trains that link the airport to Union Station. The trip takes 25 minutes, with departures every 15 minutes.- Five- to eight-minute drive/shuttle ride to Pearson International

  • Four-minute drive to Toronto Congress Center (five by public transport)
  • Eight-minute drive to International Center (13 by public transport)
  • 31-minute drive to Union Station (42 by public transport)
  • 40-minute drive to the CN Tower (52 by public transport)
  • 40-minute drive to Dundas Square (54 by public transport)
  • 41-minute drive to Air Canada Centre (46 by public transport)
  • 41-minute drive to Rogers Centre (50 by public transport)
  • 48-minute drive to Eaton Centre (51 by public transport)

Rooms

Attractive, understated rooms revamped in 2016

Renovated in 2016, the spacious guest rooms here share a common contemporary decor. Done in soothing earth tones and bathed in natural light from big windows, they boast sleek walnut-finished furnishings. Signature Sleep Experience beds topped with high-quality white linens lend an extra level of comfort, as do the ergonomic work spaces, while framed graphic prints add an artsy touch. All have individual climate control, safes, ironing equipment, Starbucks One-Cup tea/coffeemakers, mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. Handsome matching bathrooms include shower/tub combos plus back-lit vanity mirrors, magnifying mirrors, robes and hairdryers. Note that upper-category rooms come with bonus features. Club Rooms, located on dedicated floors, offer more amenities: most notably access to an executive lounge where guests enjoy free breakfasts, afternoon hors d'oeuvres, all-day beverages, and assorted business services. In addition to club access, Junior Suites, provide more square footage and separate living areas.

Features

On-site perks include a conference center, fitness room, indoor pool and multiple dining options.

Reflecting its diverse clientele, this hotel has features targeted at business and leisure travelers alike. A modern conference center -- with 26,000-square feet of space, plus event planners, assorted technicians and in-house caterers -- will appeal to the former, as will the lobby business center. But all guests will appreciate the on-site dining options. Breakfast (included for some rooms) is served at Olio; at lunch and dinner, the restaurant focuses on seasonal Mediterranean fare, while the adjoining full-service bar specializes in tapas and martinis. Hungry guests can also choose from a room-service menu or, after hours, grab light bites at a lobby kiosk. When exercise is in order, the fitness center offers weight-training equipment and cardio machines with built-in TVs and iPod docks 24/7. There's also a sizable round pool set beneath a glass dome in a bright, atrium-style area. Other features include a round-the-clock reception desk; a mini-market selling sundries; a rental-car desk; paid parking facilities; concierge, currency exchange and laundry/dry-cleaning services; and free Wi-Fi.
