Tiny guestrooms and bathrooms -- no space for extra beds
The 15-room, mid-range Hotel Campiello
is a boutique property in a 16th-century convent. It is close to all the major tourist sights (St. Mark’s Square is just a four-minute walk away). The atmosphere and
decor is a blend of classic Venetian and Art Deco. The tiny guest rooms are individually
decorated -- some have elaborate Venetian fabrics and
antique furniture. Studios and Two-Bedroom Apartments with
kitchenettes are available. Bathrooms are modern but vary greatly in size, depending on the
room.
Scene
A historic building on a quiet square, with a peaceful bar
The Hotel Campiello is built in an historic 16th-century building on a quiet square in the center of Venice, feet away from the action in St. Mark's Square. Because the building is surrounded by other structures on all sides,
the views are far from panoramic, but some may enjoy overlooking the quiet, secluded courtyard. The decor
blends streamlined Art Deco and elaborate Venetian -- in the Studio Apartment, for example, terrazzo floors and lucite chairs can be found alongside wooden ceiling beams and traditional fabrics. There is a spacious (for a Venice boutique) bar and
lounge area with colorful, modern chairs. The front desk is
small and charming. Hallways are clean and fresh, with nice woodwork and high
ceilings. The Campiello is a
simple boutique hotel where the location is the star, and guests will likely find it a
quiet and cozy oasis after a day of people watching in the nearby Piazza.
Location
In the heart of Venice, on a small, quiet square
The Hotel Campiello is located in a small square (the Campiello del Vin) in the heart
of Venice, near all the major tourist sights. It is in the Castello district near the border with the San Marco district, and the Piazza San Marco is a four-minute walk away. The nearest vaporetto stop is 325 feet away, and Rialto Bridge
is a 10-minute walk. Plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops
surround the hotel.
Rooms
Clean, but small and sparse, with Venetian touches, plus spacious apartments with kitchenettes
Some rooms in the Hotel Campiello are tiny; the Single Room is the size of a ship’s cabin. The decor is basic and functional,
with mirrors to make the spaces feel larger. There are parquet floors in many units and heavy
Venetian brocades on the windows, as well as chandeliers and sconces but no
art on the walls. Some have small balconies with picturesque alley views.
Spacious Studio and Two-Bedroom apartments, located next door in an historic palazzo,
have rustic wooden ceilings, terrazzo floors, and kitchenettes;
bathrooms are large with double sinks but tight showers. Amenities in most rooms include
flat-screen TVs, safes, and mini-fridges (some of the smallest rooms lack the mini-fridges). Bathrooms in all rooms have showers, towel warmers, and bidets.
Features
Lobby bar, excellent buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi and room service
The Hotel Campiello offers a spacious lobby
bar, at least by Venetian boutique hotel standards, with bright, contemporary tables and chairs, where
guests can relax over a coffee or a drink. The Campiello also offers a free
continental breakfast buffet with lots of variety, including warm croissants
and excellent coffee. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the property. The front desk is 24-hour, and room service is available.
