Bottom Line

The 60-room, mid-range Hotel Viennart am Museumsquartier is conveniently located just a one-minute walk to Museum Quarter, with many other major attractions in walking distance. Simple rooms feature modern amenities including flat-screen TVs and minibars, but they lack air-conditioning and decor can feel a bit bland for what's dubbed as an "art hotel." The property serves a daily breakfast buffet with a wide variety of hot and cold options, though it costs extra. There's no on-site restaurant or cafe but non-alcoholic drinks like coffee and juice are served in the lobby, free of charge, in the afternoons. Guests on the market for a little more quirk should consider the splashier 25hours Hotel at MuseumsQuartier, which also has a restaurant, a bar, and wellness facilities.

Scene

Art hotel with attractive, atrium-style lobby and rotating hallway exhibits

The Hotel Viennart am Museumsquartier is housed in a whimsical six-story building with gray-and-white-striped window accents and candy-colored, rectangular trim. The atrium-style lobby is the most stylish part of the hotel, with a peaked glass ceiling that lets in lots of natural light and a chic gray tiled floor. A rectangular rug cordons off a sitting area arranged with cylindrical armchairs upholstered in beige and velvety gray, while a red accent wall echoes a large modern art piece with folded red hearts. A small hall near the lobby features rotating art displays. But other than the reception alcove and the breakfast room, there are few other property features, and some guests find that, for an art hotel, the decor here is a bit plain. Due to the hotel's central location, it attracts a range of guests, including tourists who want a convenient base for exploring the city.

Location

One-minute walk to Museum Quarter, with other major attractions in walking distance

Hotel Viennart is centrally located in a bustling area of Vienna, just a one-minute walk from the Museum Quarter and within walking distance of most of the city's major attractions. The Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Art History, as well as several public gardens (like Volksgarten and Burggarten) are within a 10-minute walk, while the Parliament Building and Hofburg Palace can be reached on foot in under 15 minutes. For any sights farther out, the Volkstheater (U-Bahn lines U2 and U3) metro stop is just a three-minute walk. Vienna Central Station is about a 10-minute drive and Vienna International Airport is about a 20-minute drive. Parking is available, for a fee.

Rooms

Simple rooms and suites with modern amenities but no air-conditioning

The hotel offers mainly Double Rooms, but there are also seven Single Rooms, four Twin Rooms, and six Suites. All are simple and tend to feature boldly patterned wall-to-wall carpeting, white walls, and wood accents. Bright or patterned accent walls and purple and red touches in the form of leatherette armchairs or laminate tables add an artsy vibe, but generally the decor feels fairly bland for a supposed "art hotel." Suites tend to be more stylish, with extras such as chandelier lighting and velvety bed runners. All units have work desks, flat-screen TVs, and minibars. Contemporary white-tiled bathrooms include walk-in showers or shower/tub combos and hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, and soap dispensers. There is no air-conditioning, which can be a big downside in summer months, and guest rooms facing the street can be noisy.

Features

Breakfast buffet (for a fee) and free Wi-Fi, but few other amenities

The Hotel Viennart offers limited property features. While there's no bar or restaurant, the hotel does serve a nice breakfast buffet with a variety of hot and cold options, for a fee. Coffee, tea, and juice are available for free in the lobby in the afternoon and evening, though this is not quite the "cafe lounge" it's billed as in promo materials. For guests traveling with children, high chairs and cribs are available. Reception is open 24-hours and the hotel can help arrange for tours, tickets, or reservations as well as transport and laundry service. The hotel also has a meeting room and two computers and a printer for guest use. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Parking is available but costs an extra fee.
