Bottom Line

The three-pearl Antigua Yacht Club Marina Resort offers 19 hotel rooms, and 30 Studios and Suites, housed in island-inspired villas that unfold up a steep hill (there’s a golf cart to escort guests), with panoramic views of Falmouth Harbour. Rooms have stocked mini-fridges, huge bathrooms, balconies or large terraces, and free Wi-Fi. There’s also a spa and a modern gym. The resort overlooks its 125-slip full-service marina and the yacht club located across the road -- which features cafes, a restaurant, a mini-market, and a liquor store. Scene

Marina property vocative of a tropical villa retreat, with lush gardens and draped in nautical views

This resort straddles two sides of a quiet, narrow public road with the marina and yacht club on the water side and rooms on the other. Rooms offer great views of Falmouth Harbour and the vessels (mostly impressive yachts) moored there. From the get-go, the resort feels more Balinese than Caribbean, with tropical villa-style residences scattered among lush gardens ascending the hill. The facade is dressed in subdued beige and white with wood accents, setting off the resort’s landscaping and dramatic harbor views. The panorama is mesmerizing, especially from the higher rooms and even more so at sunset. Inside the reception, sturdy Indonesian-inspired timber pieces complement huge nature and marine life photos on neutral walls. There’s a long, solid-wood sofa with kelp-green cushions, a natural-wood check-in desk with a marble countertop, and a handsome work desk under a tiki empire lamp in the corner. The reception is gateway to the hotel wing, where two levels of rooms surround an open-air courtyard finished with palm trees and a gazebo. Meanwhile villa-style Studios and Suites are located up the hill with a windy driveway and lush tropical bougainvillea gardens all around. Other than the golf carts buzzing up and down delivering guests to their units, the ambience is calm, making it a popular choice for visiting yacht-owners who want a place to stay while they moor their vessel's at one of the property's 105 slips.

Location

In Falmouth Harbour, close to Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, beaches, and restaurants

Antigua Yacht Club Marina Resort is set on both sides of a calm road in Falmouth Harbour, with plenty of highlights within walking (or short driving) distance. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, including waterfront venues right across the road. It’s an 11-minute walk from Admiral House and Nelson’s Dockyard -- a treasure trove for history buffs, where gift shops, restaurants, a hotel, and other businesses populate 18th-century stone buildings steeped in naval heritage. It’s nine minutes on foot to Pigeon Beach and 17 minutes to Fort Berkeley. It’s 35 minutes by car to VC Bird International Airport.

Rooms

Indonesian island-inspired units, many with apartment-like layouts, kitchens, and large terraces

The resort comprises 30 Executive Suites and Studio Residences (in king or double configurations), and 19 Hotel Rooms. Rooms are located off the lobby, while other configurations are housed in villas that unfold up a steep, winding hill, with on-demand golf carts ready to take guests to and from rooms. For the best part, units are in excellent condition -- impeccably clean and new-feeling apart from the odd glimpse of wear and tear. Residences (which unfold over two floors) and Studios have particularly spacious layouts, with huge, all-weather terraces equipped with sturdy wooden lounge chairs and dining areas. Units are decked out in Indonesian-inspired wooden furniture, with more wood in the plank ceilings, slatted closets, window shutters, and French doors. Neutral floor tiles and walls, with crisp white beds, and sheer white curtains add a bit of contrast, livened up by rich pops of color in the form of monochromatic cushions on beds and the occasional piece of island artwork. All rooms feature minibars, air-conditioning, safes, flat-screen TVs, and DVD/CD players. Studios feature grand four-poster beds and full kitchens, and Executive Suites unfold over two levels, like luxurious townhouses with living and dining areas, open-plan kitchens, lower-level bedrooms (with platform beds), and terraces on both levels. Bathrooms are luxurious and large, with huge mirrors over granite-top wood vanities, large walk-in showers, hairdryers, and basic individual toiletries. The higher the room, the more spectacular the view -- best enjoyed by Suites and Executive Residences up the top of the hill.

Features

A 105-slip, full service marina, modern gym, spa, free Wi-Fi, and on-site golf buggy shuttle

The resort's marina has 105 full service slips (all with water and electricity), as well as simple dockage. There’s no on-site restaurant, just a self-serve water, tea, and coffee station. However, the yacht club directly across the road has a restaurant and two cafes overlooking the water. There’s also a travel agent, a bookstore, a liquor store, and a mini-market. The resort's fitness center (also just across the street) is decked out with an impressive selection of modern cardio and weight-training equipment. Indigo Spa offers a good array of scrubs, massages, facials, and body treatments. An on-demand golf buggy transports guests to and from reception to overcome the steep climb up the hill. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the property
