Scene

Chain hotel with cozy mountain lodge interiors

The Holiday Inn Asheville Biltmore East occupies an unremarkable four-story building that is almost camouflaged by its beautifully landscaped natural setting. The hotel lobby resembles the interior of a cozy mountain lodge, thanks to its natural wood floors, large floor-to-ceiling windows, and an oversized leather sofa and armchairs arranged next to a stone fireplace. The property’s wilderness theme is evident in the many wood carvings of bears and pine trees as well as framed prints of various plants and animals, while snowshoes decorate some guest room walls. There’s a scenic walking trail at the rear of the property which takes hikers through a wooded area. The hotel is pet-friendly, with certain floors reserved for guests traveling with their furry friends. Guests here are mostly couples and families taking a holiday break.

Cozy, rustic rooms with many convenient amenities

The guest rooms at the Holiday Inn Asheville Bitmore East are a bit small, but pleasantly decorated in a rustic, homey style. Dusty rose tones of patterned carpets and matching bed skirts complement the beige walls and attractive oak furniture. The bathrooms are somewhat cramped and have space-saving corner sinks as well as tub and shower combos. All rooms include convenient amenities like flat-screen TVs, coffee machines, microwaves, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have gorgeous views of the nearby mountain landscape.

Features

Heated outdoor pool, restaurant and bar, scenic walking trail, fitness area, and free hot breakfast

A free hot breakfast buffet is served in the dining room, featuring a variety of hot dishes and a make-your-own waffle station. The on-site Big Owl's Restaurant & Bar is open in the evenings and serves American-style cuisine and locally brewed craft beers. The heated outdoor pool is surrounded by several sun loungers and a few tables and chairs. An adjacent gazebo provides shade and is a pleasant place to relax. The walking trail at the rear of the property goes through a scenic wooded area and is popular with dog walkers. The fitness center is open 24-hours, but is tiny and cramped, with only three machines: one treadmill, a recumbent exercise bike, and one elliptical machine. The business center has two computers and a printer available for guests. Also, 2,353 square feet of meeting space with audio-visual equipment is available on the property for events like seminars, lectures, and receptions, accommodating up to 180 persons. Guests also have access to a small snack and souvenir shop, and a coin laundry. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
