Scene

A boutique all-villa hotel, with a traditional Balinese aesthetic and gorgeous tropical scenery

Alam Puisi Villa is an intimate hotel with a serene and tranquil ambience, tropical scenery, rice field views, and a traditional Balinese aesthetic. Towering brick archways lead into the hotels well manicure grounds which are lined with tropical greenery and tall trees. Most of the facilities have a semi open-air design, overlook the rice fields, and have been constructed using traditional building technique and natural materials, with carved wooden interiors and thatched roofs. A showcase of local Balinese artists are on display throughout the common areas, with a diverse collection of paintings, poetry, and intricate wood and stone carvings. Most guests are couples, though there are a few families as well.

Location

Located in the idyllic Pejeng Village, a 15-minute drive from downtown Ubud

Alam Puisi Villa is located in Pejeng, a small traditional Balinese village on the outskirts of downtown Ubud. The area surrounding the hotel features picturesque rice field terraces and tropical jungle valley scenes. There aren't any restaurants, shops, or tourist attractions within walking distance, but the hotel does offer a free daily shuttle service into downtown Ubud. The drive into Ubud takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Ubud is most well known as a destination for traditional Balinese arts and culture but it is also quickly developing into something of a culinary hub and features an excellent range restaurants and bars. It's almost a mecca for healthy plant-based cuisine, with an abundance of vegan, vegetarian, and raw food options. Ubud has a thriving thriving yoga scene, with classes being offered all day at places like the Yoga Barn, the Radiantly Alive Studio, and Taksu Yoga Studio, which are all within a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Art enthusiasts are also spoilt for for choice with a wide array of museums and galleries in town. A good starting point are the classics like the ARMA Museum, the Neka Art Museum, and the Don Antonio Blanco Museum, all of which are around 20 minutes away from the hotel by car. Transfers to the Ngurah Rain International Airport take around 90 minutes.

Rooms

Spacious modern villas with bright stylish interiors, private plunge pools, and rice field views

All 27 villas at Alam Puisi are ultra private, have personal plunge pools, and are bright and airy, with large glass frontages that let in plenty of natural light and airflow. Interiors are tidy and modern with sparsely decorated white walls, light gray and yellow colored cement tile floors, and hardwood furniture and trim. Rooms are furnished with comfy seating, wooden beds with canopy mosquito nets, work tables and chairs, and roomy wardrobes. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, safes, coffee- and tea-making facilities, mini-fridges, and mineral water. Villas spill out onto plunge pools and wooden decks perched along the rice fields. The pool decks are lined with two lounge chairs and a thatched roof wooden cabana and daybed, which offers an idyllic spot to take in the view or unwind with a good book. Bathrooms are spacious and have elegant marble interiors, large walk-in rainfall showers, and deep soaking tubs. Bathroom amenities include bathrobes, slippers, and a full set of toiletries.

We noticed during our tour of the hotel that for the most part the villas were well maintained, though did show some signs of wear and tear, especially around the plunge pools and exteriors.
