Bottom Line

Citrus Sukhumvit 11 is a simple mid-range tourist hotel located an 11-minute walk or free tuk-tuk service from the Nana BTS station. The 136 rooms are well-maintained and simple, with rainfall showers, minibars, and coffee- and tea-making facilities, and many have great views of the city. There's no pool, but there is a rooftop sunbathing deck along with a fitness center with great views. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi, limited free parking, and a restaurant, Munch, offering room service for all three meals. Breakfast included or room-only rates are available. Guests with included breakfast can opt to eat at the morning buffet or order from the a la carte menu if they sleep in late. Travelers looking for something larger (but more impersonal) should consider the sprawling Ambassador Hotel Bangkok, which has a huge outdoor pool.

Oyster Hotel Review

Citrus Sukhumvit 11 by Compass Hospitality

Scene

Simple mid-range tourist hotel that's popular with Chinese and Middle Eastern travelers

Spread out over nine colorful stories, Citrus Sukhumvit 11 is a simple, mid-range hotel that's popular with Chinese and Middle Eastern tourists (though it also gets a handful of business travelers). The lobby is simple and bright, with rounded furniture and soft decor that consists of circular rugs, plus low ceilings with recessed lighting that give it a contemporary but cozy feel. The hallways are conversely busy, owing to their multihued carpeting with large squiggle designs, though an atrium-style section that runs the length of the building adds some light to each floor. Unlike many Bangkok hotels, this property is entirely non-smoking.

Location

In busy Sukhumvit, a short walk or tuk-tuk ride from the Nana BTS station and convenient to tourist attractions

This property is located just north of the main Sukhumvit area, in a neighborhood full of small shops, restaurants, hotels, and massage parlors (of all sorts). The Nana BTS station is an 11-minute walk from the hotel, or about five minutes away on the hotel's free tuk-tuk shuttle. There are tons of shipping malls within a 10- to 15-minute radius, including Terminal 21(an enormous complex with different floors themed after major international cities) and the upscale Central Embassy, full of designer boutiques. It's reasonably easy to get to major tourist attractions from the hotel: The Grand Palace and Jim Thompson take 15 minutes to reach by car, and Wat Arun is more like 20 minutes away. Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang Airport each take just under a half-hour to get to when there's no traffic, but can easily take twice as long to reach during rush hour.
