Bottom Line

Evergreeen Place Bangkok is an upscale but somewhat dated hotel with 119 apartment-style suites designed for both short- and long-stay guests, including students at the nearby Chulalongkorn
University. It’s also popular with both families and business travelers, since suites have kitchenettes, living rooms, and separate bedrooms. There’s also a rooftop pool, spa, and extensive fitness center, and a restaurant that serves a free buffet breakfast. However, none of the interiors quite live up to its four-star ranking. The hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of one of the city's luxury malls and a sky train station, but it's worth comparing with the Glow Pratunam Hotel, a funky, upscale hotel with notably welcoming service.

Scene

This short- and long-stay suites-hotel has clean-lined, homey decor and it's popular with students and families.

A modern, high-rise hotel built in the early 2000s, Evergreen Place Bangkok provides rooms
for international exchange students from Chulalongkorn University who stay in long-stay suites, and the hotel is
also popular with families with children. The overall look is contemporary and understated, with clean-lined furnishings in neutral tones, and the lobby itself is filled with taupe-hued chairs grouped into sitting areas. Furnishings have been well-maintained, if not updated, since the hotel's opening, and the look has aged well. As a low-key spot, the hotel doesn't have much of a scene, although swimming lessons are offered in the cabana-lined rooftop pool. The Coffee Shop restaurant is cheery with bistro chairs, a green trellis roof, and a tile floor.

Location

Near a sky train station, and a short walk to the MBK Center shopping mall

Evergreen
Place Bangkok is in a convenient, central location within a 10-minute walk of Chulalongkorn University and the MBK Center, an
eight-story shopping mall with over 2,000 restaurants and shops. A BTS (sky train) station
is just a few steps from the hotel, putting the rest of the city at your fingertips, and there are plenty of shops and cafes in the immediate area, as well as a local hawker
center, which is a popular spot for a late-night meal.

Rooms

Spacious, apartment-like suites with kitchens, balconies, and living rooms

Wooden floors, taupe walls,
and black-and-white photos give rooms at the Evergreen Place Bangkok an understated, modern, and homey feel. Suites are spacious -- after all, students live in some of these long-term -- with bedrooms
with wooden desks, and living room areas with couches and flat-screen TVs. The fully equipped kitchens are a bit dated, with white laminated cabinets, but are furnished with fridges,
sinks, stoves, and coffee and tea facilities. For monthly stays, rooms are
equipped with home theater sound systems, microwaves, and cooking equipment. All
rooms have private balconies and free Wi-Fi. DVD players are available. Some bathrooms have
shower/tub combinations, while others have separate showers and tubs. Smoking rooms
are on floors nine through 15.

Features

Rooftop pool with cabanas, restaurant serving free breakfast buffet, spa, and fitness center with classes

The hotel
has a rooftop pool with cabanas and lounge chairs. The restaurant serves a free daily breakfast buffet, as well as international and Thai cuisine for lunch
and dinner. The fitness center is equipped with a variety of exercise equipment, as well as a foosball table. Swimming and aerobic classes (dance, boxing, step, etc) are
offered -- the former for a fee, the latter for free. A small spa offers Thai and oil massages, as well as some salon treatments. The hotel has
free parking and Wi-Fi, as well as an internet corner with three computers, and a meeting room is available for
private events.
