The Furama Silom is a mid-range chain hotel located next to the Silom business district and within walking
distance of the lively Patpong night market. The hotel’s 258 rooms are
spacious, but lower-tier rooms are a bit dated in style and all could benefit from a deeper cleaning. Suites with kitchenettes are
available for long-stay guests. An extensive, free breakfast buffet is served daily,
and the restaurant serves Thai and international cuisine throughout the day, including a lunch
buffet. The 20th-floor rooftop pool and bar area has panoramic city views, and the fitness center has a range of equipment, but both areas could
use some updating. A private Executive Lounge -- with free snacks and drinks throughout the day, and evening cocktails -- is open to those in Executive rooms. If you're willing to spend a bit more, compare rates with the nearby Glow Trinity Silom, where the rooms are more modern.
Scene
Classic chain hotel with dated decor and panoramic city views from the roof
A skyscraper on the edge of Bangkok's business district, the Furama Silom is an imposing structure, with gold letters spelling out its name in the arching entrance. Off the busy street and inside, though, the lobby is pretty typical of a chain hotel, with marble and carpeted
floors and a long front desk with under-lit tiles; there are a handful of seating areas, including a computer for guests to use, but it's not a place to lounge. The restaurant feels cavernous and utilitarian, with stylized white chairs, light wood tables, and Thai accent pieces; there's a TV over the bar. On the rooftop, red
cushioned lounge chairs next to the pool, and wooden folding beach chairs with
umbrellas in grassy areas, offer spaces to relax and take in the cityscape. Steps lead up to the
rooftop bar area, outfitted with rattan furniture under a wooden roof, where guests enjoy the panoramic views over a cocktail or snack.
Location
On a busy street on the edge of the Silom business district, within walking distance of Patpong nightlife
Furama
Silom is located on a busy road in Silom, one of Bangkok’s most important
financial districts. It’s an eight-minute walk to a skytrain station, making
for an easy commute around the city. Patpong, a red light district
popular with tourists for its go-go bars and sex shows, is a 13-minute walk; the neighborhood's night market is also popular with both locals and tourists. Lumpini
Park -- a lush park with jogging paths, playgrounds, and a lake -- is less than a
20-minute walk away. The airport is approximately a 30-minute drive from the hotel. The hotel offers free parking.
Rooms
Spacious rooms -- some more modern than others -- with private balconies and rooftop views
Rooms at the Furama Silom are spacious, but decor varies, with some feeling quite dated in style, and others more modern. While higher-tier (and more recently updated) rooms have white walls, stylish red headboards,
and unobtrusive gray carpeting, lower-tier rooms have older decor like striped red carpets, old red sofas, and tube TVs. Rooms equipped with modern bathrooms have glass walls (this may pose a
privacy issue for some) and separate soaking tubs and walk-in showers; older bathrooms are functional, with combination shower/tubs. All rooms
have TVs, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. Long-stay rooms are equipped with kitchenettes with microwaves and sinks.
Some guests complain of housekeeping issues.

guests staying in Executive rooms, there's also an Executive Lounge with free snacks and drinks throughout the day, and free cocktails in the evening.
