Bottom Line

The Le Meridien Bangkok goes for unique design and decor, from the stylish, large tinted glass windows in the lobby, to the rooms, which feature floor-to-ceiling windows for viewing Bangkok's cityscape. Some of the rooms, along with the spa, feature circular beds, a novelty in Thailand, and there are plenty of other artistic touches to attract guests, such as photo exhibitions in the suave lobby bar and a sleek rooftop deck with a 20-meter lap pool. The hotel is well located near the Sala Daeng Skytrain and Silom Metro stations, and the Silom District, with numerous restaurants, bars, and clubs. Le Meridien boasts some of Bangkok's largest and best conference rooms and meeting facilities in the area, but nonetheless also attracts leisure travelers. The only drawback (well, at least for some) of this stylish spot is its proximity to the legendary Patpong red light entertainment district.

Oyster Hotel Review

Le Méridien Bangkok

Scene

Suave, stylish, and artistic, and well-suited to business travellers

From the large floor-to-ceiling glass windows with tinting and artistic design to the sleek restaurants, the scene here is stylish and artistic. The snazzy Latitude 13 Bar in the lobby not only has fancy drinks, but is home to a creative space with rotating art and photo exhibitions. Plenty of business travelers are to be found here, due to the hotel's 600 square meters of high-tech meeting rooms and conference facilities, and the leisure travelers can be found lounging at the spiffy rooftop lap pool. Travelers here tend to be young, corporate, and probably not averse to partying, considering all the clubs and bars of Silom Road just around the corner, not to mention the crazy atmosphere of the Patpong red light nightlife streets.

Location

Lesser congested location with access to great restaurants and bars, but near the Patpong red light area which doesn't appeal to some

The Le Meridien Bangkok is located near the Patpong Night Market and bustling Silom Road, which has some of Bangkok's best restaurants and bars. The hotel is also just a five to 10-minute walk from the convenient BTS Skytrain. This is a good location since it's away from some of the more congested areas of the city, but unfortunately it is also near the Patpong red light district, which makes for a lot of hustlers and tourist touts out around the outside of the hotel, especially at night.

Rooms

Unique room design, circular bed options, and floor-to-ceiling windows with expansive city views

The Circular rooms here are some of Bangkok's most unique; in fact, they contain the city's only round hotel beds. Even the standard Vista rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows offering tremendous city views. Other stylish features found in all categories of rooms include rain showers, large bathtubs, touch-screen IP phones, 32" LCD flat-screen televisions, and comfy furniture.

Features

Rooftop swimming pool, high-tech (but small) fitness center, gourmet buffet restaurant, and stylish and artistic lobby bar

The rooftop swimming pool here is a great spot to while away the afternoon, as it offers sweeping city views and plenty of sunshine. The hotel also has one of Bangkok's top fitness centers (even though it's small) that features TechnoGym machines and equipment. There is also a spa here that has unique circular rooms with circular treatment beds. Topping things off, the Le Meridien gets rave reviews for its inclusive gourmet breakfasts served at the dapper Latest Recipe restaurant, and creative cocktails can be had either in the mood-lit Bamboo Chic bar or in the artsy and urban Latitude 13, the Meridien brand's signature bar down in the lobby.
