Aparthotel Silver is a contemporary hotel set slightly away from Barcelona's city center on a quiet street, yet it's a short walk to many restaurants, bars, and shops. Guests comment favorably on cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, the cozy courtyard where a breakfast buffet is served, and the comfort of the rooms. Modern rooms have stocked kitchenettes, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi; therefore, the hotel is considered by many to be a good value for the price. Some rooms have small terraces with deck chairs, but on-site parking does not come cheap.
Scene
Off-the-beaten-path hotel
Aparthotel Silver is located in an apartment-style building; it has low-key design elements in the small, wood-paneled lobby. This space has a sleek, minimalist look thanks to renovations in early 2016, which added wood flooring, accent lighting, new modern furniture, and clusters of work space in neutral black, brown, and white. The other special feature of the property -- the garden -- is adjacent to the café and is tidy and manicured, with terra-cotta tile walkways and groomed bottle palms. Because it is slightly cheaper than the average hotel in town, and because of the presence of kitchenettes, the property attracts a wide swath of budget travelers and the occasional business person looking for a longer-term stay.
Location
Two-minute walk to Fontana subway stop
Located one hundred meters from a metro stop that joins quickly with many other desirable lines, the hotel is also within walking distance of the city center. (It's a 30-minute walk to the Sagrada Familia, and 40 minutes by foot to the Gothic quarter). Casa Vicens, one of Gaudí’s masterpieces, is just over one block away from the property. Barcelona airport is accessible via the airport shuttle bus that stops in Plaça Catalunya; this station links directly to the train that stops in front of the hotel (one hour total travel time).
Rooms
Modern rooms with large windows, gray bamboo flooring, and built-in tables
The rooms are contemporary in style, with dark gray bamboo flooring, gray laminate built-in tables and nightstands, and tasteful matching wall coverings and design-flair bedding. All rooms have kitchenettes, mini-fridges, microwaves, and wall-mounted flat-screen TVs; larger rooms have sound systems, and some have outdoor balconies with deck chairs. Visitors have commented that toiletries may be on the scant side, but that additional products are available free of charge upon request.
Features
A small cafe that overlooks a lovely interior garden
The main feature of this simple property is a small cafe where a buffet-style continental breakfast is served in the morning. The area overlooks, through sliding glass doors, a small interior courtyard with a well-manicured garden. There's a small business center, but no fitness center.
