The budget-friendly Hostal Aslyp 114 has a contemporary vibe and a dash of style that might not be obvious from the gray, drab apartment building in which it occupies a floor. The building's lobby is dark and cream-toned, and guests take the elevator or climb the stairs up to the hotel, which is bright, fresh, and modern thanks to light-wood laminate floors, white and gray walls, recessed lighting, and colorful furniture. A lovely nook here displays wine for sale. Although there's some limited seating in the reception area, public spaces are limited to the breakfast room, which has white tables, orange chairs, a few cozy armchairs, and a brightly lit fish tank. The hotel draws mainly budget-conscious couples and friends traveling together, although families have stayed here too.

The hotel is a bit off the tourist track near Les Corts, and it's not within walking distance of the major tourist sights. Major sights and areas require a metro ride to reach. Sagrada Familia is 12 minutes away by public transportation, and La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter are about a 20-minute metro ride away. The hotel isn't far from Camp Nou, a soccer stadium (17 minutes on public transportation). There's a bus stop within a two-minute walk of the hotel and the closest metro stop is about a 10-minute walk away. Barcelona El-Prat Airport is a 20-minute drive from the hotel.

The Hostal Aslyp 114's 11 rooms are bright and tidy with streamlined furnishings and laminated wood floors giving a neat and airy look. Beds are white with single-color bed runners and gray pillows that are complemented by gray curtains. There’s not a ton of space, but each room has enough square footage for a bed, desk, and a small wardrobe to store clothes and valuables in safes. Small wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi round out the in-room amenities. However, a couple features are lacking such as coffee- and tea-making facilities. Bathrooms, in a fun mishmash of patterned black-gray-and-white floor tiles, have narrow shower stalls, toiletries, and hairdryers.
