Best Kid-Friendly Hotels in Bora Bora

Unlike many French Polynesia resorts, the Four Seasons Bora Bora caters to families with as much care as it does to couples. The one-, two-, and three-bedroom beach villas -- all of which have private pools, outdoor patios, and private beach access -- are popular with families who need space to sprawl. The resort is home to a stunning infinity pool, a beautiful beach and protected lagoon, a spa with special treatments for kids and teens, and four on-site restaurants. Plus, it has both kids' and teens' clubs, both with a host of daily activities, and both the best of their kind in Bora Bora. Freebies like Wi-Fi, non-motorized water sports, and snorkel gear are nice perks, but hardly outweigh the mighty costs of everything else at the Four Seasons.

Like most Bora Bora resorts, Le Meridien caters first to couples, then to families. Cribs are available upon request and and staff members can set up safety gates. Rooms in the entry-level categories have small sofas that can be made up as beds (they don't pull out), so can fit up to three. Children are allowed in the overwater rooms, though many families feel more comfortable in the Beach Bungalows (540 square feet, like the Overwater Bungalows) or one- and two-bedroom Beach Villas (starting at 1,700 square feet), which come with private pools. The hotel's two pools, large beach, and protected lagoon are on par with amenities at similar hotels. What sets the Meridien apart is its on-site turtle sanctuary, where guests can visit rescued turtles and learn about the hotel’s efforts to rehabilitate them.

Widely known as a honeymoon destination, Bora Bora sees more vacationing couples than families, and the St. Regis is no exception. Though the hotel welcomes children, and even has its own kids' club, it's rare to see young visitors here. But families who don't mind being the minority will find lots to love about this luxurious 89-room hotel: the gorgeous beach with calm water and free non-motorized water sports, the protected Lagoonarium -- ideal for snorkeling, four restaurants, weekly Polynesian nights with a buffet and dance, and fee Wi-Fi and bike rentals.
