Bottom Line

The two-pearl Oasis Guest House Bed & Breakfast offers
clean, affordable rooms -- if a bit small and spartan -- in a convenient Back Bay location
that typically commands much higher rates. Popular attractions like Fenway
Park, area colleges, and the Hynes Convention Center are within walking
distance. Entry-level rooms offer little more besides beds and dressers and have shared bathrooms, while others include a bit more space and small, private bathrooms. The property offers a free continental breakfast, and on-site parking is available
at reasonable prices. The Milner Hotel offers comparable rates and similar amenities, but rooms are not much larger.

Scene

An eclectic mix of guests enjoying the attractions near Back Bay

This property’s Back Bay location near Fenway Park, the Hynes Convention Center, and several colleges attracts a diverse mix of guests, including visiting professors and parents, business travelers, tourists, and locals who want an affordable night on the town without the hassle of traveling back home. The property is made of up of four converted brownstones. Guests arriving at the main entrance are greeted by a small desk next to an exposed brick wall. A narrow staircase leads up to the top two floors. Guests can lounge in the cozy, if dated, parlor area with a blue Berber-style carpet; brown leather armchairs are clustered around a fireplace framed by an oak mantel. Traditional art decorates the walls. A small kitchen area is available for guests' use and includes a fridge and microwave. These are quiet and comfortable areas to sit and linger, but guests are typically on the run and eager to explore all that Boston has to offer.

Location

In the heart of Back Bay, near Fenway Park and convention center

The Oasis is conveniently located in the heart of Back Bay,
within walking distance of many popular Boston attractions. The
closest restaurants and shops are a two-minute walk away, with dozens more within a
few more minutes on foot, including a Whole Foods that's three minutes away. The closest public transit station is about four minutes away on Boylston St.
The Hynes Convention Center and its major T (subway) station is a seven-minute walk,
while Fenway Park is a 10-minute walk away. Several schools are in walking distance, including the Berklee College of Music (three minutes), Northeastern University (six minutes), and Boston
University (15 minutes). The Museum of Fine
Arts, Boston is a 12-minute walk away, and Boston Common can be reached in 11 minutes via public
transit. Boston Logan International Airport is approximately 15 to 20 minutes by car or 45 minutes by public transit.

Rooms

Small, simply furnished rooms, some with shared bathrooms

Guest rooms are small and spare, with simple, bland decor that includes solid burgundy or dated floral bedspreads, white duvets and dark wood furniture, including dressers, headboards, and nightstands. Some rooms have exposed-brick walls as well as some antique furnishings. The rooms also include free Wi-Fi as well as wall-mounted mirrors and flat-screen TVs. Most rooms lack closets, but have wall-mounted, stainless-steel racks with a few clothes hangers. Guests generally praise the rooms for being clean, but they're cramped and offer little space; some of the entry-level rooms are barely more than beds and dressers. Bathrooms are either shared or private, but they're all small and spartan, with shower/tub combos or walk-in showers with curtains. All rooms include phones, towels, and toiletries.

Features

Free breakfast, on-site parking, guest computer, and free Wi-Fi

This bed-and-breakfast offers limited amenities that include a free self-serve continental breakfast. A fridge and
microwave are available for guests' use on the first floor. A guest computer station in the lobby has Internet access and a
printer, plus Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. There are no
elevators to the top two floors, but there is a small outdoor deck that guests can use on each floor. Eleven parking spaces are available in an alley behind the property for rates that are cheaper than nearby lots, but the spaces are tight, especially for larger vehicles
