Bottom Line

Ayres de Recoleta is an apartment-style hotel located in the quiet, residential Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta, though the hotel itself is on a main avenue. The rooms (and two suites) are contempoary and spacious, with a modern-meets-earthy vibe, wood floors, deep soaking tubs, and fully equipped kitchens. Unfortunately, the hotel lacks a restaurant and on-site parking, but it does have a zen-like small pool. It's a solid choice for a home base, since it's near a lot of the tourist attractions -- and right near the famous Recoleta Cemetery.

Oyster Hotel Review

In the central neighborhood of Recoleta, with easy access to many attractions

The Ayres de Recoleta Hotel is located on an avenue in the beautiful Recoleta neighborhood, home to the famous Recoleta Cemetery. Right outside, there are many restaurants and bars, and a big street market on the weekends.

Recoleta takes it name from the Recollect Fathers, a Franciscan order that established itself in the area during the early 18th century. In addition to a monastery, they also built a church and what would become the famous Recoleta Cemetery. Featuring striking 19th and 20th century funerary art and architecture, the cemetery today is the final resting place many of Argentina's most influential political figures; Eva Peron's tomb is one of the most visited.

Recoleta is also close to the National Library of Argentina and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Downtown Buenos Aires is a 15-minute drive away.

  • 40-minute drive to Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE)
  • 3-minute walk to Recoleta Cemetery
  • 5-minute walk to Centro Cultural Recoleta
  • 8-minute walk to San Martin Square and Plaza de Mayo
  • 10-walk to Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes
  • 4-minute drive to the National Library of Argentina
  • 8-minute drive to Plaza San Martin
  • 12-minute drive to Calle Florida
  • 14-minute drive to Casa Rosada
